Hello everyone and thanks for this great forum! I just traded in my 08 Vstrom last Friday and picked up a sparkling new blue Tenere. I did so with conflicted feelings as I LOVED my DL1000 (17,000 miles in 2 years), but I really wanted shaft drive and better suspension. I'm hoping the Tenere works out for me as well as the VStrom did. So far I have rode 140 miles and immediately noticed the sloping seat. I found the mods on this forum and will be doing this soon.

I'm sure I can tweak the other ergos to get something similar to what I had on the Strom. The only other observation so far is the lack of an inner fender on the rear. Really disappointed that Yamaha didn't do something here. I understand that Pyramid PLastics has something in development. If anyone has done anything themselves to address this, I'd be happy to hear!

I just traded my Vee for the S10. The suspension , the braking and the fueling all are much better than the Vee. I do miss pumping regular gas and slightly better mileage, but this bike really puts a grin on when you twist the throttle. You won't be sorry and this forum, while still young, will provide you the same level of help that Stromtrooper's did. Good luck with your new ride.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the SuperT! Big difference between the DL and the XT, for sure. Much as I enjoyed the DL's I had, the SuperT seems to offer me more smiles per mile!!!

Good luck,
Rod

Welcome on, Borghi from New York, and congrats on your new bike. I predict you will enjoy it very much. Go out and kick some gravel butt and let us know. ::004:: R. ::022::

I too am a former DL1000 rider. The V-Strom was a perfect bike for me, except that I got completely sick of replacing chains and clutch baskets. (Five chains and two clutch baskets in 65,000 miles!) The Super10 feels very similar and without a chain it should be less troublesome. So I am happy to be here and I hope you will be too. Welcome! ::001::

I had a neglected Vee Strom in the Garage, had to ride it down to get a recall done, the next day I cleaned it up and advertised it for sale.

When you go back it's really obvious which bike you want top keep. ::024::

The Strom had plenty of TLC over the years and was mechanically perfect but it still was not a hard decision after the ride.

I'm still tweaking the ergos on the new Super10. I'm not totally happy with the stock seat (feels too hard), not sure if it is due to high density foam or not enough foam. I had the gel seat on the Vstrom and with my airhawk it was superb! I'll keep working on it, since I don't miss lubing chains, but now I worry about spoke wheels!

Don't worry I haven't lubed my spokes in 10,000Km ::025::

Welcome.
You won't miss the front-end push! I never could get my DL-1000 to corner hard enough because the front end would push. Changing tires and playing with geometry never seemed to help. My FJR pushed too until I changed the tires, then it railed. <shrug> I can corner considerably harder on the XTZ even with TKC80s on it. The Super Tenere is so much 'more' than the DL in so many subtle ways. I don't miss my DL.
