My plan is to put an order in for a bike to be delivered the 1st quarter of 2012. Does anyone have any thoughts on that plan or foresee a problem with getting a bike?

I will leave for Alaska from Michigan in July of 2012 and hope to have enough time to be one-with-the-bike before I leave. I currently ride a H-D Road Glide Ultra and will ride to Maine this summer. One last question: are those of you who have a bike on order paying less than the list price of $13,900?

Thanks for any help offered :)

If you're so inclined, give me a head's up and I'll point you in the right direction on your way through next year. There is a good Yamaha dealership in Whitehorse, if you're in need of service, etc. If you're camping, I'm out of town and lots of tent room.

Hope to see you then. R

With the delays in production this year, coupled with how Yamaha has run the PDP programs in the past, I wouldnt count on the timeline you posted. If you really want this bike in the first quarter of 2012, your best bet will be to find a dealer who has potential order cancels, and buy one of those out, or find a dealer who ordered bikes under their names, mechanics names, etc, for "floor stock".

I think that you should not wait. There are several possibilities that could have a negative result. 1. The price will likely go up. 2. There may be subsequent delays on any batches after the PDP bikes. 3. If sales do not impress Yamaha, there may be no further S10's for USA. If you really think that you want one of these, you need to find a PDP cancellation or dealer PDP and snag it. Just my $.02

Man, I love this guy REM, from the Yukon. I'm a Florida native but, love the bitter cold of the north. Learned to hate the heat in Nam. Yes, there is a few that can beat the "$13,900" MSRP. One is D&H Cycles out of Cullman Alabama. Been around a long time with a stellar reputation for honesty and service. They work off volume and will sell you this bike for 11,999.00, with 500.00, down for them and Yamaha's 500.00 down. You will finance this bike for 10,999, plus a 100.00, document fee. Another guy is in Longview,Texas, that sells the bike below the MSRP. Did not get a good vibe from him because, he would not even answer an e-mail. Anyway, There are those that will sell at least a 1000.00, below the MSRP.

At this point I wouldn't count on any deals. Letting you order at this point is a favor to you if there is a cancellation. Things were different when they were actually taking orders. No one is out the deposits anymore. If you get a deal take it, if you don't take it. But that is just my opinion.

Welcome Jqill, since you want to goto Alaska in 2012, there is a dealer here that may have one unspoken for. Send me a private message if you want some more info. I am in Seattle area, and that could work for you going to Alaska. Where in Michigan are you? My parents live up near Traverse City.

Ask around....I had a friend went to a different local dealer and bought it for $11,999.

Welcome!

I'm in Grand Rapids, MI and ordered mine locally for less than MSRP. I don't believe there are many other orders in this area though.

Welcome to the Forum!!! I'm guessing that the best prices to be had is now and not later. Your trip sounds great and is very close to what myself and 3 others have planned for summer of 2012 (2 on SuperT's and 2 on KLR's).

Good luck!
