Hi Guys. My name is Ken and I go by kymotoman. I live in Union KY which is in Northern KY just south of Cincinnati about 15 miles. I currently ride ah '08 BMW R1200R and a '14 Honda NC700X DCT. I am 66 years old, retired and average about 10,000 miles a year on the bikes. Personal family issues have kept me from riding as much over the last two years and with that behind me 2016 promises much more riding.

I attend a number of BMW rally's with my riding buddies using the "R" as my long distance tourer. The Honda is reserved for putzing around town, shorter trips and riding the great twisties here in the Bluegrass. Over the last couple of months I have thought about upgrading my long distance bike as I get ready to take on the Cabot Trail in July and spend a couple of weeks in Colorado and Utah in August/September. Having choked on the cost of a loaded GS or RT, I have finally drank enough of the BMW Kool-Aid and will be returning to an established dealer network with excellent reliability. I previously put about 30K on a 2008 FJR and really think that the Yamaha brand leads the pack on both counts. I narrowed by short list to an FJR and a Super Tenere ES. Having had a FJR (been there, done that) and frequently enjoying motorcycle camping and rallies I have opted for the S10-ES. On Friday I put a deposit on a red 2014 Super Tenere ES at Yamaha of Louisville.

I look forward to learning as much as possible from the forum and sharing my ownership experiences as well. Let the Farkeling begin.

Welcome, I'm from Louisville.
Looks like we have some things in common, I put 30,000 miles on a 2005 FJR.
I am going to Nova Scotia this year and I bought my 2014 Super Tenere ES from Yamaha of Louisville.

Hey Ken, glad to see you made it in. There are quite a few current and former FJR riders here (myself included), as well as current and former BMW owners, so you're in good company!

Welcome to the forum Ken. Lots of current and former FJR owners here. I put a tad over 160k on my '04 before moving to the Super Ten. I think you'll enjoy what the Super Ten has to offer and a lot less trips to the dealer, not to mention cheaper and sometimes easier maintenance. We have plenty of BMW owners here too, some of them outspoken.
