Hi All,

I'm not yet an S10 owner but I sold my Z1000 last month in preparation for picking one up sometime between now and the spring depending on what I can find and when the '15 actually hit the floor. I did the Yamaha demo ride of a '14 ES model and really liked it.

I've had many bikes but most recently I had an FZ1 (gen 1) for several years and then moved to an FJR for a few more before riding the Z1000 for several years. I also have a DRZ400S and I'm ready to do some adventure touring on the S10!

I considered the new Vstrom 1k but I've been a Yamaha fan since I was a kid and I think the S10 is better appointed, especially with the ES and I'd rather have the shaft drive.

Good choice, Joe! I am a big fan of shaft drive as well, and my Super Tenere has been the best bike I have ever owned since I purchased it just over a year ago. ::008::

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will enjoy the new bike. The shaft drive is very nice.

I had the 650 strom and I really have good memories. A fine machine. But the chain was the weak link;).
Took a 3600 mile road trip this past summer with a friend who had a VStrom and we lucked out and found a much need chain in Laramie Wy. My shaft drive on the Goldwing never complained. The Tenere reliability should be greatly enhanced with the shaft drive.
