Hello, I've been a lurker here for a month or 2. I currently ride a 2003 HD wide glide. I bought it almost 2 years ago and on my first big trip my crew met up with a guy on a GS1200. We asked where he was headed and he said he wasn't sure. He was going to go up in the mountains, find a forest service road to ride down and find a place to camp. I was instantly in awe of this guy's ability to choose any path instead of the one that was paved. So, since then I've been wanting an adventure bike. I was gunning for the GS1200 and was able to test ride one this last year at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. It was awesome but I couldn't take the price. So I started looking around and found the S10. It's been in my mind since August and finally got a test ride a month ago. It blew my mind away and then after following this site for the last couple months solidified what I want.

Hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger in the next couple months. The weather is pretty cold and snowy up here now so it would be sitting in my garage anyway.

Welcome. I did the exact same thing as your stranger did with the GS1200 two weeks ago; I took my Tenere down a national forest trail, then way back in the woods and camped out. It was great! Hope you find yourself a Tenere soon.

Hi fella ... glad you caught up with us. Now go out there and buy the machine that you know you want. The longer you wait the greater the chances of that extinction event ???

Welcome to our world m8. ::008::

Greetings and welcome from D.C. Not quite as cold here (just yet) but I'm looking forawrd to warmer weather as well. Hope you can find a machine quickly (no need to wait for the weather if you've a garage to start bolting on accessories). There are some good machines lurking around the for-sale area here too. Either way, you likely going to be smiling a lot this summer :)

Welcome aboard. Good luck in your S10 search. Nice part of the country you live in. Have family there we like to visit just up towards Rockerville I think. Enjoy the board. Look forward to hearing you bought a bike.

Welcome from Oklahoma! some great paved and unpaved roads to ride up there... don't wait to long, someone else might get the one that you want... then you will have to wait.... The waiting will just eat you up knowing that you could be out there on that forest road...

A simple hello for you and a warm welcome to the Yamaha forum. I am here to share information about custom stickers which are used for all types of modifications. I hope i ll have good time here and anyone can pm me for any kind of information related to the stickers. However, the bikes shared in here are great.

::004:: from Texas. I bought my Tenere because I would always wonder where that dirt road went to that I just flew past on my street bike. You'll like the ability to get off the beaten path because more often than not you'll have it all to yourself.

I sold my Road King last year and got this bike. Very happy I did it and now I can go places where I would think about when I had the RK. Even my HD Sales guy likes my ST.

Thanks to all for the warm welcomes.......

Now I'll start, and maybe I need to post this to another thread. But I'll try here first: I'm a fat bastard (6'3, 250lbs). On my last two BMW's I had to go with Ohlins........please, prepare me now. Am I going to have to put them on the 10?............Thanks.

Regarding rear, the shock is actually good, it's the spring that is going to be too saggy for you. Regarding front, well if you adjust it properly for yourself, it will be okay for a while. But if you are looking for top notch performance then you know the drill for the front forks. Whether or not you get ohlins or another brand really depends on your brand preference.
