I made the mistake of selling my only ride last fall in hopes of taking delivery of my new tenere in May. Well we all know how that worked out. So....I find myself in need of a new ride to tide me over this summer.

I found two "cream puffs" for sale but can't decide on which one to get. One is a sportier on-road model with a after-market seat and the other is more of an off-road model and comes with panniers and a water-proof ammo can. What do you guys think is the better choice?

The obvious choice is the dual sport bike. Might as well get some practice before the Tenere shows up! :D

I don't know that's a tough one the DR has a lot of storage space but that aftermarket seat looks comfy as well. Maybe you could do the seat mod on the DR and have the best of both worlds.

Go for the DR so you can be a big shot by having the highest capacity panniers ever.

Biker 1: "My factory panniers are 35L, they're so huge!"

Kevhunts: "Son, come over here, let me learn ya something about pannier capacity..."

:D

Splendid choice of bikes there .... I particularly like the enduro bin bike with ammo can farkle. It would suit me well ... the perfect battlewagon.

I don't know. I think with a little encouragement Wasp could fab up a set of racks so you could attach those incredible panniers to the Kaw and then you would have the tulimate bike with all day comfort plus enough luggage capacity for any occasion.

For Touring I think the Kawasaki would be nice, does it recline? If it does that would be my choice.

Go for the DR, you can probably find trash (I mean pannier) liners at most stores to fit! :D

The DR for sure you could use it to pick up pop cans along the road and could stay out for a week at a time.

Go for the DR. When your S10 gets here, use the panniers from the DR on the new bike and save a few bucks.

As far as the other bike you're considering, the brown seat clashes with the red paint. Not good.

Isn't that some kinda BBQ set up ... brilliant idea ... means you can prepare a snack on the run. That gladiator mask/grille would be right up the Aussies street ... they bolt those to cars to stop high speed roo interactions :D
