I want to run a switched wire for a accessory where is the best place for power; the Main fuse, main switch, ignition fuse? I was leaning toward the main switch.
Thanks

Kinda depends on the intent. Low draw items like a GPS could be powered via tapping into the accessory outlet circuit. Higher draw items like heated gear or such should be thru a relay switched source like some of the stuff from Eastern Beaver or a fuze block like the FZ-1. They can be "triggered " off the accessory circuit and pick up their power source directly from the battery/

Hi Rod I will be running the Eastern Beaver 3CS harness and I need a power source for the switched circuits so you think the accy circuit on the bike is my best option?

Not too sure about this, but I think there is one spare slot on the OEM fuse block? Wonder if you can use that?

Heck, for a trigger you could go to the light harness as well.

If you don't plan on using the optional aux lights or grip heaters, you could those circuits as I believe they are fused & switched.
There should be a couple of pigtails coming out of the harness near the fuse boxes.

As long as the circuit is rated for the amperage draw required by the items you wish to power, plus a little. Verify this.

Anyone who is not familiar and comfortable with electrical theory should have someone who knows what they are doing install their accessories. Otherwise, prepare for possible heartaches.

Most free advice online is worth what you pay for it. Just because it's posted up, doesn't mean its reliable or even correct.

Or you could get a manual and learn how to do it yourself: http://www.amazon.com/How-Advanced-Custom-Motorcycle-Builder/dp/1929133413

Please use $500 beater bikes to practice electrical theory on, not this one. You could have a smoking $13,000 hulk.

I only meant to use the accessory outlet circuit for the trigger, unless you find another spare switched circuit for the trigger. The main thing is to stay away from hanging accessories directly on to existing circuits unless they are very low amperage draw.

depends on the current you will draw and when you want the power to be available (always/when ignition on/when motor is running)
Heated grip power is available only when motor runs
Aux lights power is available as soon as ignition is turned on
If I remember correctly, they are both 20A

Yes all I need is a trigger source. Which plug is the aux lights and which is the heated grips? I would use the heated grip one since I'm running heated gloves with my Eastern Beaver harness.

You can get connectors from Eastern Beaver and make it "plug & play".

Sweet idea! I was already bummed about how I was going to have to cut the wiring harness too many times. I think that I will still have to cut into the harness for my rear LED signals and my Whelan additional brake light.

Send Jim at Eastern Beaver a picture of the male or female connector(s) for the tail/brake lights and you can make those items plug & play too.

I will sure try. I had heard from the guys across the pond that the connectors for the wiring for the rear lighting is connected up under the tank and that it is quite a chore to route the new one. I will definately give it a try, though, before slicing and dicing.

Thanks Bundu! I know that you have done your homework. I got the idea about the electronic flasher relay from reading your exchange with Dallara over on ADV.

I have the Eastern Beaver 3CS on my Thunderbird (still waiting on the S10). It comes with pretty long leads for the trigger (relay) circuit connection. I used a posi-tap off the tail light wire with no problems.
