Ran on down to Rocky Mtn ATV / Jake Wilson today to pick up some Rox Offset blocks for the S10. Yeah, I know, I could have ordered them. But they are in Payson and Payson is where the near end of the Nebo Loop Scenic By-Way is. There was a nasty traffic jam and I got there a little later than planned. Took a few minutes to install the risers and get the cables situated. By the time I was rolling it was 3:15 and I want to be headed back to SLC before Provo got hit with rush hour, as they have 30 miles of road construction in Utah Valley.
So I ran just the lower part of the loop. They tell me we live in a desert. Really not true by any standard, but in any event, certainly not true of the terrain just to our east, in the Wasatch Mountains. The Wasatch is the western extent of the Rockies, and Mt. Nebo is it's high point, peaking at 11,929 ft amsl. The loop runs about 37 miles of tight canyon, with unobstructed valley overlooks, to an elevation of over 9000 ft amsl. I only ran it about 10 miles in, and then turned back. Fortunately the fall color was in on the lower loop:
Of course, I had to stop in the one wide open straight.... It is mostly unlined, narrow, with poor sight lines, overhanging trees, gravel in the turns, and loads of fun.
The S10 continues to run beautifully as it nears 3k miles, and flows through the turns.
