You would think spkldoe would know better than to leave me alone on a snowy winter late afternoon.

first trial...nailed it!

Mojo Pot Stand KICKS A$$! Works great w/ both big and little Trangia. Good purchase.

One Egg Wonder skillet ROCKS! Another good purchase.

As I had not used it for a spell, I forgot what a flame thrower the large Trangia is; definitely needs the simmer ring in place for such pursuits if you plan to rest the skillet on the pot stand. I held the skillet high with one hand and cook with the other.

With some pre-planning and a little help, I could easily feed 6 (more if needed) campers with just the one rig and a full load of alcohol.

Below is what I used for one sandwich:

Camp Kitchen:
• uberkhul Mojo Pot Stand
• Trangia fiddle factor stove (large version)
• 1 shot cap full of denatured alcohol
• small cooking tongs
• turner

From your camp food kit:
• a few table spoons EVO
• 1-2 envelopes powdered milk
• black pepper packets
• zip-lock sandwich bag(s)
• paper towels

Procurement: Stop at a grocery store on your way back to camp and purchase:
• beverages as desired
• 1 doz eggs
• 1 pack baloney
• 1 pack sliced cheese
• 1 small jar sliced pickles
• 1 family sized bag of chips

Ingredients per sandwich:
• Fold a whole wheat soft tortilla in quarters then tear in half
• One slice of your favorite baloney cut in half
• One slice of your favorite cheese cut in half
• 2 tsp EVO
• 1 tbs of powdered milk
• 1/4 C water
• 1 egg

Prep:
• Add powdered milk and water to zip-lock bag and mix.
• Add egg and pepper packet contents to milk and mix.
• Grease skillet with a paper towel dipped in EVO and set the skillet on pot stand to pre-heat.
• Pour egg mix into skillet and cook.
• Unfold the half tortilla and place half cheese slice inside
• Place both the half baloney slices
• Place the other half cheese slice on top
• Fold the top flap of the tortilla
• Add 2 tsp EVO to skillet and pre-heat to shimmering
• Grill tortilla to golden brown, remove and place sandwich on a paper towel.
• Grab a beverage, your sandwich and some chips
• EAT LIKE A KING! ::024::
• Repeat until all campers are satiated. ::008::

Nicely done!

I've been thinking about what cook stove to get to actually get back to cooking meals on. I have an MSR reactor for boiling water for coffee, oatmeal and freeze dried meals but miss real cooking. The Trangia stuff looks really good, simple to use and nothing to clog or break.
Heirloom quality to it. I could see my son using it after I'm long gone. Time to research.
Thanks Spklbuk

When I try to read this post I don't even comprehend what you did.
I wish I could cook.
My wife says I could starve to death in a grocery store.
When I travel with my son , we go into a store for evening food supplies and Eric ends up at camp with fixings for a gourmet meal, I end up at camp with a can of rot gut chili.

When Eric and I rode to Alaska in 2011 I was losing so much weight that we had to start stopping at a restaurant once a day so I could eat some real food.

Mojo melt.

Refinement. Sliced chickened breast, baby swiss and two thin slices of red delicious apple in a 1/4ed tortilla round. tsp. EVO in the One Egg Wonder over a Trangia. Chased with the rest of the apple. Camp supper...Kabam!

True Grip, the mini-Trangia with a Clikstand is my favorite. Trangia is high on "fiddle factor" and there is a degree of experimentation involved. Small tongs are your friend. Flame is hard to see in daylight. And I agree, there is that heirloom quality thing it has going. The One Egg Wonder is no slouch either. Heat is distributed amazingly even across the skillet nearly as well as cast iron. Makes purrrfect pancakes.

A full alcohol load and geared down with the simmer ring and some folks even report dry baking with it. Chicken and dumplings or fruit cobbler (or both!) are my next Trangia pursuit. I like a little camping in my camp-n-ride.

The stove pictured above is the Trangia spirit burner; aka flame thrower. Way harder to cook with than the mini in my experience. But the spirit model makes a nice compliment to the mini. Boil with the big one and cook with the smaller.

eemsreno, build or buy an alcohol stove, boil water and with a little creativity and practice, you can cook an astounding variety of packaged grocery store foods and eat pretty well while you're at it.

When Eric and I rode to Alaska in 2011 I was losing so much weight that we had to start stopping at a restaurant once a day so I could eat some real food.

Here is one for the first evening in camp that you can do. The prep is done at home.

For Goodness Steak
1.5 pounds of tenderized deer steak (or boneless top sirloin steak, about 1.5 inches thick)
1/4 cup + 1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
3 tbsp. steak sauce (use whatever is in your fridge)
2 tbsp. lime juice
2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. grated gingerroot
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. sesame oil (sesame for flavor, EVO or canola will do)
1/4 tsp. black pepper
¼ tsp. cayenne
[If using beef - Trim any excess fat from meat. Pierce meat in several places with fork.]
Place steak in a gallon Ziploc bag.
Combine all marinade ingredients in a gallon ziploc bag & put steak in and smoosh all around.

Toss into freezer until ready to take camping.

On departure day, prep a salad and fruit mix in a 2nd Ziploc and refrigerate. Place ziplocs (wrap frozen meat ziploc in newspaper) in a small soft cooler when you leave for camping. Steak will thaw for same day cooking first evening in camp.

To Grill: Remove steak from marinade and grill over hot coals for to desired doneness (4-5 minutes per side if using beef). Drizzle leftover marinade from a punctured corner in the ziploc while grilling.
When done, remove steak from heat and let 'rest' for a few minutes before chowing down!
Serve with salad and fruit

It was something I made on the fly when I was camping in Ridgway at dutch Charlie campground, had beef jerky crumbs in the bag a potato, dehydrated onion garlic a couple Eggs and tortillas hot sauce it was great.
This is what it looked like when I started it but after sautéing for a few minutes it was well melded it was nice and brown!
