FYI, the state of MN is looking for riders interested in part time work teaching the Basic Riders Course. The classes are mostly weekend and the state provides the wheels you will use.

If you are interested, drop me a note here and I will provide additional detail

It’s a great gig. I've been teaching MSF Basic and Experienced courses in Fargo ND for 14 years now and been the site administrator for the last 8 of them. I've lost a couple of my West Fargo rider coaches this fall and will be recruiting a few new Rider Coach Candidates for the upcoming 2023 season. It's a rewarding side job that pays surprisingly well.

I had fully planned on that being my retirement gig. I was a certified LE instructor, had gone and completed the required CPR course . . . . and then found out that it was weekends only. I had failed to check into that part. I didn't retire so I could work weekends. :D So now I'm a professional bum.

I did all but the last class when the Malaysian 370 accident happened. I didn’t go there but to a different accident for the next week. No make up classes allowed in Maryland so you need to retake the entire course. Being a MSF instructor is incompatible with an on call job.

Maryland also requires you commit every summer weekend to them. (iirc - Officially a minimum of 10 days on separate weekends) Since my other half still has a job we’d never be able to use the boat, go to day events, or other stuff we enjoy.

Minnesota and MSF requires us to teach 4 classes per year. Classes late April-early Oct are scheduled around Xmas. Lots of competition from the Votechs for Coaches
