i agree, mine ratteld pretty bad. Put a couple rounds of electrcial tape around the round aluminum mounts- re installed panniers. No more rattle, 9000kms and still good. would have thought I would need to re wrap periodically.

Sumbich !!! That's really weird. I'm wondering if the little spools (pucks) vary in depth and/or width ?? IT would be interesting to compare a couple from different bikes to see how consistent they are in size. R

If you use my little patented approach, I guarantee you they will not move. I think I have one spool (mushroom) that is a little looser than the rest. Hence my patented washers can be used on one or all 4, you decide. ;D

I think the problem is with the rack design. With 4 mounting points some of the mounts will contact firmer than others. A couple of thousandths off and one of the contact points will rattle. The cushioning of tape (or the patented Washers by Clem) allow for the variation and eliminates the rattle. My old Happy trails racks had a long L shaped nylon block which fit tightly over the bottom of the rack and the top was secured with screw knobs. No room for rattling since there was only one resting point on the bottom (that said it was the only food part of their design). I believe that the trax bags use the same pucks so it could affect them as well. This is not an issue with the Micatech bags themselves, just the rack mounting design.

My mind wanders quite a bit. How did you know ?? ::025::

Well, my bike is far away, and it wasn't having that problem. If it can be determined to be a puck issue, I bet SW MO would make up some new ones that are of the proper size, and make you guys a hell of a deal on them. R

I just made these, you get the idea, made them out of an old plastic bottle, so cost is nothing. They work very well, stay put, and you can take the bag on and off without problem. They really are very snug with this mod.
Great idea! Ya know, there are there are also plenty of cheap ways to make a perfrect circle...just sayin :D Also just kidding...well mostly ::013:: You'll have to excuse me..just caught my first coffee buz of the morning.

You could always use Gorilla Glue if, you know, you didn't have any plans to take them off. R
