I am looking at tents and have narrowed the choice and this is on the list. Is this a good tent?
The price seems good and the size is good for me. I would like to stay in the lower 2 hundred range.

I have looked at the looked at the REI half dome + and the quarter dome. I need a tent that will be dry in a frog choker and high winds.
Thanks for any help..

I checked out a few videos on it and it looks like a great set up. That vestibule looks like it could cover quite a bit of gear. ::026::

Also I like how the rainfly comes almost to the ground. In a howling, driving rain that's important. ::026::

I've got a Eureka Apex 2XT that I have for two person camping, so I don't have any "hands on" experience with the Marmot. Looks like a nice set up and Marmot is known for it's quality. ::003::

With the feedback I got on here and ADV, I purchased the tent today. Also got a sleeping bag, pad and Jet boil. Almost all of it was on sale with more discount on top of that. I love a good deal... ::024::

I'm almost ready to camp.. ::025::

Thanks Mellow for your feed back.

What did you get for a pad?

Exped has a chair kit for that thing. I went with the Downmat 9 because I hate to get cold. Not a problem in July, but October or November can be a different story. The chair kit is a little pricey, but it works great and probably saves some room and weight for packing.

Here's a picture of the chair kit.

The exped is a great pad. I've camped in 16 degree temps and have never felt any ground cold seeping in.. the ground becomes a non-issue. They also sell an inflatable pillow -red- that packs down to the size smaller than a soda can.

Another great thing about the Marmot Limelight 2 is you can set up the included foot print / poles and rainfly on their own just in case it's raining like crazy.. then, you can setup the tent underneath while it's raining.. I've been camping a lot and rarely is it raining enough that you'd get soaked completely while setting up a tent, practice makes for a quick setup/take down.

I've had the tent in very strong wind and rain and it's worked great.

There are only two things I don't like about the tent..
1-It has 3 poles.. I'd prefer to just have 2
2-The two long poles have a plastic/rubber connector to keep them in an X configuration.. would prefer that wasn't there... Never thought about just taking it off 'til now.. I may try that the next time I set up the tent.. I'm used to 2 non-connected poles so maybe this makes it easier and I don't know it.

I would have gotten the 9, but it was more money.. lol. I have to watch those bucks..

I haven't started looking for a chair, but will look at that. I have some folding camping chairs but they are really too big.
This is the first time I will have camped in about 30 yrs and the first on a bike. So I'm going to need everything.
Hopefully, now that I have the large stuff out of the way, the smaller I may find used. I have been looking but nothing yet..

Maybe I'll have a picnic table wherever I camp.. ::025::

There are a few tents that I looked at with two poles, but they were not free standing. Could have been just the ones I looked at.
Most of the tents had the connector that you mention. Also it looks like the third poll keeps the sag out of the tent and vestibule. It may work with just two?

I think with your recommendations and those of others, this will be a good tent. It looks well built.

I also got a Big Agnes sleeping bag and the Exped mat will slide inside in its own sleeve. Can't wait to get it and set everything up.. ::013::

It's great to see you getting set up for bike camping japako, I can't get enough of it. Last night Michelle said " I love my bed, do you like it?" I said " as long as your in it, I would be just as happy in our tent." Steve
