Hello fellow riders. Jim here, a 72 yr old guy in Maine that is hoping to make a trip to Alaska in 2025 on my 2014 S10. Working on the ergonomics, uncomcortable riding position which i'm hoping will be corrected with a Heibar riser kit. Overall it's a good bike. Best wishes to everyone, stay safe and happy.

Welcome, from Texas. I lived in Kittery and York back in the late '80s. Miss the cheap lobsters.

Welcome aboard and which side of 95 are you? Spent a lot of time between Brunswick and Acadia with family in the Poland area.

Hello from Australia.
I hear people say that we have the best lobsters in the world here and others say the same about Maine.
I’ll not say that though as I’ve never had lobster from Maine and you don’t get a great name like what you have by being rubbish.
Maybe one day I’ll get there to experience it in person

Jim, I'm south or Augusta (just south of Auburn, actually) and ride a 2014 ES, too. Risers (Helibar) really did help my comfort. I also added highway pegs to the crash bars. I don't ride for hours with my feet on the highway pegs, but having them allows me to change up my position from time to time. How long do you plan for the Alaska trip? Sounds great.

Anyway, welcome!

Hi Jim. Welcome from Canada. I've been throughout Maine many times, beautiful state, warm, friendly people.

You have an inspiring story. Best of luck on your journey. If you happen to be passing through Thunder Bay, drop me a line

Welcome from Northern Illinois. My Helibar setbacks did the trick. I am 6'3" with 32" inseam. Get the seat flattened out so it doesn't slide you forward to the tank. Are you planning on going to Prudhoe Bay? Just know that the marina on the Yukon River doesn't open until 0830 and Coldfoot is a long way past that. I made it bit with two 10ths of a gallon left. I did have 2 gallons in a rotopax though. Besides that I never came close to needing to use it. Oh, I was down to 35 mph for 30 miles in able to make it to Coldfoot.
Enjoy the bike.

Thanks for the reply. I did a trip to the Yukon on an old Harley back in 2022. I got the S10 to do the Alaska ride and plan on about 6 weeks. I'm hoping I can get the eronomoics addressed. I had a similar experience with a FJR 1300. Just couldn't get comfortable. The S10 puts strain between the shoulder blades, so hoping the Helibar solution will fix that problem. Glad to hear it worked for you.
