I'm talking about a reasonably priced 250 that will run 70mph, climb hills all day and go coast to coast if needed. No real comparison the an ebike.
I agree completely, but theses goobers don't want a "real" motorcycle. Just something that keeps them from walking but can be brought into their mom's basement where they're living.

And then there is Royal Enfield. Churning out thousands of 650cc parallel twins with happy owners all over the place. Cheaper than the Chinese and look good to boot. A couple of mates have them and they love them. One of them happily moto camps on his. Simple, easy to ride with the unreliable features of yesteryear, carburettors and points ignition systems, replaced with fuel injection and electronic ignition. Nothing much to go wrong as there is nothing much to them.

Perhaps I'm getting too old & grumpy, but some of the Corporate speak used in the Official Statement from Pierer Mobility makes me wonder where this is actually heading .......... for instance, redimensioning. I think it's called ReDim in computer speak, but it sounds like some pretty drastic down-sizing is coming down the track for KTM.

........ https://www.pierermobility.com/en/newsroom/eqsfeed/2891375?type=corporate;presse

Once thought of as a vibrant, thriving concern, it seems KTM has grown into something of an all consuming dinosaur by chasing sales growth - sadly the Pandemic changed the market in an instant, whilst our politicians tinker continually with legislation/taxation. Many European car makers are facing a similar crisis. It's easy to blame the Chinese & slap on tariffs but when the consumer keeps his/her/they? hands in their pockets the fallout is inevitable. BTW, dare I mention Jaguar here, another ReDim involving a 2 year production hiatus & some woke product teasing nonsense in the media that doesn't bode well, after years of falling sales - I wonder if Tata will have the patience to wait & bear the attendant losses, or will they pull the plug & be done with it. Apologies for the thread drift.

€2.5-3 billion in debt and 70 000 -130 000 unsold bikes after making €100 million profit last year. They should have realised this was going bad a long time ago. Obviously the journalist that wrote this is doing a bit of guess work. Either that or the accountants are really bad because they don't have a tight number on their inventory.
KTM have assured customers that "there will be no change to supply and service'. That will be reassuring for the KTM owners with camshaft problems.
