K60 verses TKC70

Another update - spent a long weekend riding fully loaded with camping gear on a lot of different roads but I'll only mention ones I haven't already commented on.

Wet dirt - good but not as good as the K60. Expected that. I was surprised how good it was though.

Wet Tarmac - very good. Only had the traction light on once when applying too much throttle on TCS 2 coming out of a corner. I am not an aggressive rider but again as expected, light years ahead of the K60 in heavy rain.

Conclusion - all tyres are a compromise and this one probably suits my riding style better than any other available at the moment. I look forward to seeing how it wears.

I just switched out my K60s for Shinko 705s, I was thinking of the TKC 70s as they are very similar. The bigger gaps on the 705s sold me. I have the same experance as you regarding then handling with a few hundred miles on them. I'm noting some tread wear in the rear. Just wondering how the tread is holding up?...

I ordered TKC70s and they will bet fitted on Tuesday.

My riding is 99% road so I won't be able to comment on off road conditions. Im hoping /expecting better wet grip, quick warm up and longer lifespan with the Contis

Just replaced my TKC70s at 5500 miles, with fullbore m40s . I will not be putting TKC 70s on again . They did not like my riding style and wet weather, they cupped bad front and rear at 40psi . If the fullbores do not work out it,s back to The Metz Next agin .

Interesting. I'll be keeping a close eye on mine.

Not what I was wanting to hear. I guess I'll see if they suit my style and bike set-up better.

I was under the impression that applying the front brake only ALWAYS engaged both the front and rear (i.e. linked). If you wanted to operate the brakes independently, you have to apply the rear brake before applying the front brake. Am I mistaken?

Are you saying that once the rear brake is touch, linked braking is completely disabled ?

Great thread, Squarebore. Right on target. How about an update on the TKC70's? I ride two-up in dry conditions at mostly 100 kph on Honduran "pavement" with an occasional 10 sec. thrill to 130, just to remember I'm alive. Am pretty much 90/10, but it's the offroad 10 that I am interested in. Here in Honduras, offroad begins when you leave the highway for gas, rest stop, hotel or food. Offroad consists of loose dirt, loose gravel and loose round river rock up to 3 in. round. All loose. I have to say that my OEM Battlewings have never let me down, it's just that the grip feels loose. Maybe it's just my more conservative style at age 73. So I am looking hard at the TKC70's, as well as E07's. Are you still high on the 70's? Appreciate your feedback to help me with this. I think I am down to two decent choices that fit my conditions and riding style.

I think I replied to you in another thread but yeah they are going well. Best tyres I have had so far. I'll know in the next few thousand kms if the wear rate will be acceptable.
