Jump starting Lithium batteries

My tiger has the first lithium battery I’ve ever had. I keep a pigtail on my S10 just in case I accidentally kill the lead acid battery. I’ve had to use it several times. I put a pigtail for my jumper on the tiger. After doing some reading. I see “don’t jump off lithium batteries “. If this is true it could be a major drawback to me. I had a warm hard start a couple of years ago in the Louisana swamp on myS10. BOONDOCKS. I tried to start it a few times and let it rest awhile. Battery started to get a little slow. If I wouldn’t have had the jumper with me. I would’ve been mudered by swamp mosquitoes on a long dark walk. Anybody here jump a lithium bike battery off? Where I was almost stranded. If I had a weak lithium battery I woulda jumped it and hoped I didn’t fry something.

I've had totally drained lithium batteries and they don't take a charge if you put a 2 or 5 amp charge on them. I have found out that I have to hit them with a large charger to get them to start charging. I can't see that jumping with a jump pack would be any different.

You should be able to jump the Triumph from a booster or other vehicle without a problem.

I have jumped lithium battery using lithium jump pack, worked fine, but it’s pretty difficult to get the jump pack securely attached to the Tenere battery if working alone Because the posts are so small and hidden behind crashbars.

Add me to those who have used a lithium jump pack to start my bike which has a lithium main battery installed. No problem and it lit off quickly.

I don't have a lithium battery on my bike but it's still difficult to get a jump pack connected to the battery posts with clamps. After the first time I had to jump my bike with a jump pack and clamps, I ordered a clampless harness. Now, if I ever need to jump start the battery again, I won't even need to remove the side panel, just fish out the connector on the clampless harness and plug it into the jump pack.

Not sure what I'm looking at here but I'm hoping it'd not a suggestion to jump start an engine using those tiny little wires with the SAE connectors on them.

It looks like a Battery Tender pigtail with clamps, connected to the clamps on a jump pack. I'd "tender" to agree that there would probably be a little too many amps for the 'Tender portion of that hook up.

Order or build a thicker pig tail.

Just a prototype mocked up from shit I had lying around. If I was in a jam in the middle of no where might use it once.

Our bikes bump start easily. Never felt the need for a jump starter on a trip. Carry jump cables for my BMW friends. They are lighter, and BMW people are notorious for being unprepared. They travel light. Like the weight advantage for an advantage in the curves they do.

The latest jump starters charge with a usb C cable. ( Probably can use your phone charger.) And have an air compressor and gauge built in. They weigh 1.5 to 3 pounds. My harbor freight heavy duties 12 volt pump weighs 3 pounds. (Willing to go heavier for reliability.)
