Just signed up and am hoping to learn more about the Tenere. I know it's been in Europe for a year or two with good success. I'm planning a round the US trip in 2011, about 9,000 miles. Right now I think the Tenere may be the bike for the trip. I just can't bring myself to order the bike sight unseen so I'll have to wait for the M/C in NYC this January. Anyone with any experience that they would care to share would be appreciated.

welcome Peterj, thanks for asking for our opinion. What we say will be just that. It will still be up to you as to what you like you know. SO far, even though i don't have the bike yet, after sitting on it, it seems to fit me wonderfully, better than the VSTROM I just came from. As I have posted other places, this bike speaks to me for several main reasons.

Japanese Made, Shaft Drive, ABS, Modern Suspension, Traction Control, Luggage Availability, Upright comfy seating position, large fuel tank 6 gallons, 40-45mpg, off road worthy, dealer support, and a wonderful forum like this to share our ideas and thoughts with each other.

If you want one early 2011, you may want to rethink waiting till february until ordering. The orders are going to be shipped first come first serve.

Welcome PeterJ!

I would hate to differ with HoebSter but I would get in line as soon as possible If you want the bike as soon as possible. First come first served with pay to order. I ordered mine 9-1-2010. My mind was made up as soon as the first reports came out. I have had not one Yamaha fail me due to the manufacturer in many years. :) 8) ;D

The reports we have been getting from all over just reaffirms this! 8)
