This year, on the 23rd June, I have decided to do something that I have been thinking about doing for some time. At the same time I am hoping to raise lots of money for Acorns Childrens Hospice.

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides care and support for children and young people who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and provides support for their families. It costs £750 per day for each child’s care. Acorns relies on the community to fund over 70% of its activities.

I am going to ride from John O'Groats to Land's End in one day on my Yamaha Super Ténéré. This is the longest distance between any two points on the UK mainland and amounts to around 860 miles. Starting out at Sunrise at around 0400 I have 17.5 hours of light until Sunset at 2130. [I guess some of you guys from the US probably travel this far to work and back but to us guys it's the furthest we can go without falling off the edge!]

If you would like to support me in this challenge and help the children and their families that are supported by this amazing charity please make a donation by either visiting: -

I was up there two years ago, when I went over to the Orkney's its a bit on the bleak side if the weather is poor, and the roads are two way quite narrow, so wish you well with the trip. The hospice's are the only charity that I give to, having my wife pass away in the local one 11 yrs ago followed by my mother 5 years ago I know what fantastic work they do. So I wish you well with the fund raising for a fantastic cause.

Just bumping this one up again as the date is fast approaching. I do the ride 23rd June so only 24 days to go. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, the total stands at around £730 and I set out aiming for £1000 so of any of you guys feel like making a donation to the cause it would be much appreciated.

I did it!

Here are photos of the start and finish. In the finish photo I really am holding the bike up because the wind is so strong it is trying to blow it over!

880 miles on Saturday
1760 miles in total
160 litres (35 gallons) of fuel
Total fundraising to date £1105.00

And it rained for about 80% of the time!

Thank you for your support!
