Picked up Tenere #2 today. It's interesting going from a fully setup and broken-in bike to a stiff new bike. Even after transferring my old seat and windscreen it was more different than I anticipated. First thing I noticed was how much higher the bike sat and how stiff the suspension was. Not having my bar risers installed kept me in a different position which I was feeling after 4 hours of riding. The biggest challenge was the engine. After more than 9K miles of riding my first Tenere I've developed my style of throttle management. Now trying to break-in a new engine by the book is throwing me off. The bike is so familiar, but I need to remember to short shift and be gentle. Takes more concentration than expected.

None of this is bad, just different. I'm sure it will all settle in as the miles grow and everything will be normal.

Wow! what a great looking pair.

I would bet you are the first to have two super tenere's in your stable as a private owner.

So now you can call them Super Duper Tenere's.

Super Duper: Of the greatest excellence, effectiveness, or impressiveness.

Maybe. The Yamaha rep at the dealership today said he didn't know of anyone else with two. To be fair only the black one is mine. My wife is very clear that I need to stop calling the blue one mine.

No better testament to the worthiness of a product than to buy a second of it.

I know what you mean about breaking something in. It's kind of a pain and today's motor vehicles (cars and bikes alike) don't hit their true stride for thousands of miles.

We may just have to come-up with a bike-painting fund for Dirt_Dad. I think the lifelessness of the black color is getting to him. Involuntary referring to the blue one as 'his' is a very telling Freudian slip. ::008::

Very nice Dirt Dad. Happy household and garage.
Pretty easy if you a) drive it up on a board before attempting, or b) have your wife on the other side of the bike helping lift.

As for the black color, it's growing on me. Has a lot of blue sparkles that are very obvious in the sunlight. I liked looking down and seeing them. I'm going to be fine with black.

Congratulations Jon -
You two are gonna be hard to catch on the road! Next time I'll bring Karen (WordNerd) to shoot photos of you as a pair.

Thanks, Bob. Actually for the next 859.2 miles I'll be really easy to catch while I'm breaking in the engine. You will now have the majority color next time we meet up with Trevor for a ride.

No sale on the Spyder yet. Had a little interest, but still abailable for anyone that wants it...anybody...hello...anyone?

Speaking of which - one of the things I'm supposed to be doing to for the Romney Cycles event is organising a route or two. I have some in mind that would make a nice day ride, but I know you know some roads around there too... I like Bobs idea of running up to the MD classic bike show on Sunday, and I guess most others will be heading home - so really only need to organise routes for Saturday - one easy one a bit dirtier would probably do? Some will have their own ideas too.

Anyway, point is, who wants to test ride some possible routes some time?

I'll be up for it, but I'm spoken for this weekend. Might be able to do it next weekend. Should have the bike mostly ready to roll at that point.
