the throttle cables exiting out the top of the grip versus street bikes coming out of the bottom? I've noticed this on the V Strom the S10 the BMW 1200 there must be a reason. Does it make it easier to change out off road if they snap?

Not sure that's universally true. My '09 R1 has the cables on top while the '06 FJR and '06 R1 have them going under. Maybe it's the chip controlled throttle thing?

Good question. That could probably be quickly answered on ADVrider.

I like when the dual sports exit on the top....because when I add bar risers, or put on a bar with more rise, I always have the option of mounting the throttle houseing 180 degrees to give a little extra slack in the throttle cables/wiring. That's what I did on my WR250R dual sport. With around 1.5" of rise, I flipped around the throttle and now only my clutch cable has been a bit tight...for 6,000 miles. I have 11,000 miles on the bike, in the last two riding seasons, so it's due anyway. I finally ordered a custom clutch cable from Motion Pro that is 1.5" longer.

They say you can add 2" of rise (like with Rox risers) to the Super Tenere as long as you position the bars back a bit. I'll run the stock setup for a bit, but imagine I'll end up with a Rox 2" riser and aftermarket bars that have a bit less rise than stock to net a 1.5" of rise. Should fit fine with stock cables and wires.
