...get this dirty after only 1 week and 150 miles? :D

I haven't been able to put on as many miles as I would have liked in this first week, but fatherly duties come first. I have to say, coming from the cruiser world, I was stupid to wait so long! Power is plentiful, even in Touring mode. Mileage has been even good despite my heavy right hand. So nice to be able to turn on a dime and slice through the turns. Thanks for all the good info and advice before I purchased!

No, it's supposed to be dirtier! Welcome to the asylum, Kent. I bet most of us rode cruisers prior to seeing the light. Ignorance is bliss. Welcome to the 21st century. I don't think I'll ever go back to a cruiser. After an FJR and a Super Tenere, they are underwhelming.

I'll try harder! ::26:: I took my Stratoliner out to get gas the other day and it has torque in spades, but I felt like I was driving a barge. When some of my riding buddies asked about the change, I said "I'm done having a bike that looks cool, I want a bike that takes me to cool places."

That's kinda funny because I don't even think cruisers look cool anymore. I think most of them look ridiculous and so do their riders. None of the typical cruiser gear protects the rider at all, but to each his own. That's what makes the world go around.

Exactly !! Left a Road Star for my Tenny. When I want to get a thrill I just hop on my 2004 FJR.
Good bye cruiser. Matter of fact have been looking with my wife for a replacement for her V-Star 1300 !

Yes, they will get dirty but they are surprisingly easy to clean and maintain. Maybe a few spots you cant get to but its mostly wide open for a quick rinse and detail job. Loving mine.

My first bike was a V-star 650 with lots of chrome. After about the 2nd time of washing it, I decided chrome was really a pain in the butt. I did like how it looked when it was all clean and shiny, but it was serious work.

I clean my ST by riding it in the rain. That and an occasional 5 minute hose down. Saves more time for riding.

I'm definitely digging the "wash and wear" concept. Don't get it too clean, it's only going to get dirty again! :D
