Before I got the Super Tenere, I used to be able to ride like this...

No - just kidding! The guy in the vid is Simon Crafar, Kiwi ex- World Superbike and 500cc GP racer, lamenting the fact that electronics play such a big role in racing now. I for one would LOVE to see what Casey Stoner could do with an NSR500 from the Doohan era. I think the best riders will always be the best riders, electronics or not - but far more spectacular to watch without them. PLUS I'd love to see the two-stokes make a comeback. I know - dreamin'!coastie said:Did you still expect you would be able to throw the Tenere into corners like a sport bike?
Ha ha ha, piece of cake. I did it last year at Barber on my '09 R1. The slide was going great until I highsided, broke my left arm and totaled the bike. Wife grounded me from the track until further notice. While out on the gravel yesterday I was reminded how comforting TC2 is to me now.coastie said:I have slid a bike like that one time in my life and that was in my early 20's on the Ortega Hwy.
Well the latest R1's have traction control - I see an opening to convince the wife that you will be much safer on a new '12 R1 ;D20valves said:Ha ha ha, piece of cake. I agree. I've been spending a lot of time in the dirt lately. TC1 and touring mode are sometimes left on accidentally and I pay the price with engine hesitation and lack of torque on command. TC2 and sport mode (so far been leaving ABS on) have given me much more control and confidence...not to mention letting 10 pounds out of each tire ( 80/20) stock tires.20valves said:Ha ha ha, piece of cake. And the R1 traction control has 7 levels that are switchable on the fly. I believe you still have to come to a stop to switch to off, though. I predict that future S10's will have TCS enhancements that will allow switching levels on the fly also.20valves said:
Yeah, I'm a sneaky little shit like that. I have my eye on that sweet red and white 50th MotoGP Anniversary LE model. It'd make the perfect stable mate for the bumblebee. And there is no bike that sounds better than that crossplane crank motor with an Ak on it! ::008::
