Hello from Switzerland!
Why not a top case with a backrest ?
I had the OEM top case without a pad and wife didn't like it. Sold it and got this Givi setup with pad that looks great to me. Wife dislikes it more than the OEM one. So, looked around the internet and found that back rest that I linked in above post. Potentially nice thing about that is it has a couple inches of adjustment.

Could someone direct me towards a comfortable backrest for my wife?
Thank you.
The short answer is do a google search for backrest on the Supere Tenere forum:
site:yamahasupertenere.com backrest - Google Search

I installed a Pirates Lair backrest on both my VStrom and Tenere. Had them for 12 years on the VStrom and 9 years on the Tenere.
It is a bit expensive but well made, the shape and angle of the backrest fits the back well. Very comfortable for my wife.
The only problem is they are only made for specific models of bikes, primarily BMWs.

Pirates Lair - You can see that some of the ones listed are for older bikes and there is a note that they are no longer made.
They did make one for the older VStrom models so that was an easy install.
They did not make one for the Tenere so I ordered one for the R1200GS. I did not want it mounted to a plastic luggage rack so I also got the AltRider luggage rack. I had to make some modifications to the rack and backrest mounting holes.

Both the backrests that I got are no longer made.
If I was going to do this again for the Tenere I would look at the one made for the FJR 1300 (2006-2020)
I would need to check some things first.

Just wear a proper back protector not an insert and you wont feel it.
