I didn't get chance to try the DCT out and dealers are very reluctant to order one in as the stock version has hardly set the sales charts on fire over here. The Tiger 12 has done well, but i guess the L/C GS will be the one most people will be holding out for.

I subscribe to Bike from UK. They just did a comparo between the GS and Triumph....gS came on top, triumph is more road oriented yada yada...
They also did a write up on all the other large trailies, yamaha got a sentence and a half, the honda got close to a page and a half.
They do have a long term tenere that's being tested by their photographer, but oddly enough it does not get enough use.

But going back to the honda, here in Canada, with honda's brilliant idea of one make dealerships (honda powerhouse) the prices of new hondas have soared (probably a 40% increase, which incidentally cost them 60% in sales, due to the new set up and attitude)
So a new Sup T in canada is $16500 plus tax, say $17500 all in (you can do much better by buing in the states ::013::)
If the honda were to arrive here, i'm guessing they would peg it at $21-23 grand plus tax, because it's a superior bike, i'm only basing this price on honda's decision to hike the st1300 from $15500 to a completely loony msrp of 19500.

Dont get me wrong, I love hondas (2001 gear driven vfr with two brothers pipe, lovely noise, and a 98 cbr900rr street fightered with sssa and a 954 front end conv. ::014::)
Yes the honda would be reliable, and probably very good on road, and ok off road, but 5-7 grand on top of yamaha canada's price is a bit much.
With the triumph word is still out about the reliability, its a completely new bike, the single sided swing arm ??? why?? what for?? maybe they are hoping for a run just like the gs had with their final drives.

I'm very happy with my yammie, save the snatchy throttle, but i can live with that, and for what the bike cost me, you really cannot go wrong. ::022::

This sounds a little pessimistic. In most markets, the VFR1200X is base-priced right around the VFR1200F which is about $16K in the US. The S10 is $14,500. If it comes here, that's what I'd expect.... about 10% higher than the S10. And we're probably looking at a price hike for the S10 if they announce a new model year. I'd guess $14795.

(The US VFR-F is under factory incentives right now and I've heard you can get one for around $12K. I'm not a big fan of the bike, but at $12K, it's a steal.)

I tested the Honda along with the Triumph before settling on the S10. The Honda suspension isn't quite right and, in their arrogance, they provide no adjustment on the front and little on the rear and it is HEAVY - 20kg (44lb) more than the S10 which is no lightweight. It doesn't notice much at reasonable speed but damn well does in slow speed manouevres. That would not be nice off road.

Mark, nothing pessimistic about the numbers, Honda power house here in Canada, think they are all that and then some, their price hikes have been uncalled for and unecessary. i'm sure it will be a good bike, but not for that price. As a positive thought, Honda may of seen the light, and the positive lack of sales, and there's rumors going around that they will be giving back the franchises they took away from all the other multi bike dealerships, here's hoping

I understand how Canadian motorcycle prices are, in general, much higher than US prices. What I am saying is that I doubt the VFR1200X will be priced significantly higher than the VFR1200F which I think is about $17.5K MSRP in Canada, about $1K higher than the S10, more or less in the same relative position with one another as in the US. I just don't see a $21K-$23K price as you're suggesting.

Academic discussion until they actually import it anyway.

In Australia the VFR1200X and the S10 are the same price. Yes It took me a while to absorb that. :D

I'm actually glad the Crosstour didn't make it here this year.... I was such a nut for the V4 in my VFR, I would've probably been on the waiting list to get one. If that had happened I would have never had the pleasure of owning my Tenere. I've spent more time offroad in the last 8 months that I ever thought I would - absolutely love the versatility of this bike! ::025::

I would like to see it make it across the pond and do well, however. The more options we have in this segment can only strengthen it, and competition is always good for us, the end users... ::012::

Love riding my Tenere ::014::

But miss seeing my Pretty Girl in the garage sometimes :(
