Hi - I know this has been written about somewhere, so thanks for taking a look. I just recently picked up a '12 ST10 in a trade (so happy I did!). The previous owner did the flat seat mod and had the seat on low setting. I'm about 6'1" and want to try the higher seat setting. His mod, however, wasn't just replacing the bumpers with the 1/2 size ones, but rather, he cut the back bumpers off. When I switched to the high seat setting, I now have a sizeable gap between the tank and the edge the seat because it's essentially tilting up at the end. It's locked into place but the gap is there and I imagine I'll feel it on the ride for sure.

Is there any way I can work with what he did (I like the flat seat mod) but be able to have the high setting have a better fit?

Thanks!

The easiest way would to use the shorter passenger seat rubber bumpers and see if that works for you. Then, buy replacement OEM Yamaha bumpers.

Thanks very much. Do you mean, first try to use the passenger seat bumpers and if that doesn’t work just buy the replacement oem’s? I’m guessing on the ‘12 models they don’t just pop off, because they were cut all the way off.

Yes, they are easy to remove and install on the driver seat.

thanks for the good answers. Turns out, on the Saddleman aftermarket seat that's on their now, the rubber bumpers aren't removable stops and seem to be molded into the seat body. This is why they were cut in order to do the flat seat mod. I think I can just deal with this on the high seat setting and will see if that little upturn at the point of the tank crushes what it shouldn't while I'm riding! :) Thanks again, all.
