Where the beef is sweet and the pigs aren't quite sure whats around the next corner. This would be Iowa. This includes just a couple of favorite modes of transportation devices. Although there needs to be something done to the Tenere to combat the new GSW, that thing is FAST. What's the best pipe and air cleaner? ::022::

ECU mods? What are they doing to it, what does this entail? Are we talking about reprogramming a section or an entire remapping or reprogramming of the entire ECU?

Nice choice of rides! (I have the exact same bikes, with slightly different mods).

The ECU mod is a full reflash that deals with some of the EPA compromises...I haven't done mine but those who have have been raving about them.

Not sure what they do, exactly but from the glowing reports it is night and day improvement over the stock map/s. The poor man's method would be the CJM (ClutchJumperMod) here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=4486.msg80473#msg80473

Basically, this is just a mini fuse placed between the clutch switch wires and used to trick the ECU into thinking the clutch is "dis"engaged or the lever is pulled in. No actual data on what this does but from seat of the pants dyno it feels like the restrictions in 1st thru 3rd gears are removed and fuelling is much better right off idle. You do, however, lose the drive mode S or T. YMMV. Most seem to like it and it is FREE.

Yes, Karson it would be Tony.

Sounds to me like this is going to have to be put to the test. Dyno time!

I noticed a distinct lack of full pipes in the after market section, is it because there is none? Or does anyone make a complete system?

Hey Tony - I called you about a month back re: getting dyno time for the S10, if you remember. Been too busy trying to sell the wife's house, but the intent is still there to get a perfect map dialed in with you. It was right before the May 10 open house you guys were having.

Anyway - aftermarket headers leave you with Arrow as your only option.

For slipons - you've got - Akrapovic, Leo, Arrow, two bros, etc...

Akra's give you the lowest db's, with Leo giving you 3 different db-killer options. The best deal I've ever seen Leo offer is going on right now through Jaxon at RideOnAdv.com. Just in time that you ask...

The ECUnleashed flash will erase any power curve concerns with this flash, although there's a right of passage where you need to ride it for a few thousand miles to truly appreciate what it does for this bike. If you go with the Arrow headers, you'll need a PCV + AT to dial it in to fix low RPM surging, IMO. ECUnleashed hasn't quite sorted that out for us with headers.

Karson, no prob. We'll be able to dial that thing right in. I'm prob going to play on my end a little bit too before we do your bike. This fuse thing in the clutch switch has me intrigued and I've already been playing with it. Rode to Boone this morning with it in at a, lets just call it "brisk" pace, and there was some difference there but I'm not sure how quantifiable it's going to be on a dyno, response is hard to measure. Just have to figure out how to make it stand out. Time vs. speed is the best way usually. The throttle is definitely different but, I don't think it's going to show easily on a dyno.

I'm with you on the clutch jumper mod. I started out with that last year and rode it for several months with a tusk on/off switch acting in place of the mini fuse, and it's a nice mod for the price it costs. A good intro to view a bit of what the parallel twin has to give for us leading up to the ECU flash.

A couple folks have posted dyno results from the clutch jumper mod and it definitely does remove the 1-3 gear restrictions giving one of the nicest linear power bands I've seen - so you should hopefully see it yourself, too.

However, this bike loves low AFR's from my experience judging only on rideability - I'll be interested to see when I get back from Colorado in a couple weeks and have a chance to chat with you in person what the optimal AFR's are for the the setup I've got.

We should get together and ride up some Saturday - I usually try burn up the afternoons on the Dragoon Trail.

I've heard about this Dragoon Trail before. From where to where? Paved? Gravel? Better for a YSR, FZ, FJR, R1, or S10? Or the way the weather has been here lately, a mud bogger? I live 2 miles from a paved road, so getting out of here the last couple weeks has taken 13.5" wide, 37" tall, tires that are made to turn by 489 ci of big block hysteria, 500 hp, 550 lb/ft of torque and lifted 6" with 4wd. The guy that drives the maintainer is a high school friend, he says it's the worst he has ever seen these roads in the last 30 odd years. I believe him, we've lived out here 11 years and it's ridiculous. At one point last week, the left wheel track was at least 8" deep and filled with water. Stupid.

i thought the water tables were low the past couple years! Isn't that a good thing in a way for more water?

The way the spring started out yeah we needed consistent rain, the 6" of rain we had one afternoon rejuvenated it quickly. We've had an inch of rain a week, or close to it, since that wet weekend.

Lots of flooded fields still, and rivers are still very full, but going down.
