Why is there no helmet lock on a Super T? What are other riders doing? I purchased a lock at Home Depo today, buts its just not the same. Are there any after market quality lock?

One bike I won't have to cut the damn thing off of... But that's just me. Yanked it off of my DRZ's...

I know of a few people who have added an aftermarket helmet lock. And some have done just a cable lock around the handlebars. Usually I have some sort of luggage on the bike that I can secure the helmet and jacket in.

Here is one answer, guys.
In the Northwest we have the Pacific Northwest Super Tenere Owners Group (see our Facebook group) and one of our sharp young members saw the same helmet hook need that you guys saw and being an engineer-type, came up with an answer custom designed for our bikes. I don't have photos, but email him for details. He makes them, they work great, and are cheap.
His name is Andrew and his email is andrew.schauer@gmail.com
I'll try to get him to post some info.

I'm the "sharp young guy" in the PacNW.

Here's a little info on the helmet hooks:

http://pnwtenere.com/2014/08/31/review-helmet-hook/

They work well for me, and several others so far: Unlock the seat, hang your helmet(s), latch the seat back down. $13 for a set of two shipped.
Shoot me an email if anyone is interested, I'll ship 'em out quick.
Thanks for letting me know about this thread Munsterlander.

I might add that Andrew's hangs the helmet as shown in the photo, so it keeps the inside dry. Not upside down like a bucket to catch rain like some other options. I live where it rains.

Cable lock purchased at a bicycle shop. Price range in the $10 range and I can lock my helmet sitting securely on my seat. Can also lock my riding jacket (through the sleeve) if need be.

I had a thief cut the strap at the D-rings to make off with a very expensive Simpson helmet, and all he had to do was sew on a new strap with a set of D-rings. I've used cable locks since then.
If you do want to trust the strap, just close the lid of a pannier or top box on the D-rings.

Yep, had a helmet stolen once. Far from anywhere to buy a new helmet it ended up knocking out a full day of the trip, and kept us from making the planed destination to meet up with a friend. Always carry a cable lock now.

I've been looking the the James Bond Helmet Protection.
It's lined with C-4 and and motion detector that if you don't turn it off after 10 seconds from moving it, it blows up!

They have one where it only explodes if someone else puts it on, but my kids wear my helmet sometimes.
And the last thing I want is a visit from social services.

I carry a small, retractable cable style helmet lock in my tankbag. I suppose a well equipped thief could likely cut the cable in short order, but I try not to frequent places that cater to dirtbags.
