Me: 46. Tall. Beer Belly. Married. Kids. Reasonably intelligent. Current ride, a 2001 VFR800, my 20th street bike since my first one in 1984.

I was all set to trade in or sell the VFR and use the $ for a down payment this month for a 2014 ES. I wasn't gonna pull the trigger until after Intermot to see if there are any 2015's coming out I like better than the S10, however. BUT!!! My DW and I have an opportunity to buy a 39' Diesel Pusher (from an elderly and very trusted and respected family member) with 16,000 miles and well taken care of for a very good deal. I'm not sure if I am comfortable with making that payment and a new bike payment. We are avid RV'ers and a luxury rig in our price range is very high on our family's list of priorities. But, a new bike is high on the list of my personal priorities. I'm hoping to make them both work.

Anyway, just saying "hi" and I might be joining the S10 owner ranks sometime soon...

P.S. I really registered just to look at Tenere Porn but didn't want to be rude. ;D

Welcome to the forum Vapor_Trails. The '14 ES does have a few new things when compared to the '12/13 bikes, but it's often possible to pick up a nicely farkled used S10, often with low miles, for a significant savings over a new bike. I can only imagine how you fold yourself up on the VFR, but you're of an age where you start to appreciate knee to hip ratios and upright 'standard' riding positions. A lot of people here came from Sport-Touring class bikes and love their S10s. I sure do. The FJR was a great bike, but the S10 fills the void well.

Get the pusher, the Family should come first. But don't let DW forget that you made a choice to do that. ;) And once the dust has settled on the new coach and probably selling the old one, keep your eye out for the classifieds here and other places for a bike you can afford. The S10 is a fantastic platform to take you places, or explore places the motor coach has taken you to.

Don't let Barkingllizard fool you. He gets out a lot more than he lets on with his simple hello. 8)

Welcome Vapor_Trails! I agree with EricV. If you find money a little tight for a brand new Super Ten, there are some nicely farkled used ones around, as well as some new 2013s still on the showroom floor. I have a 2012 that I purchased new just over a year ago, and I love it! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the 2014 models, but I can happily live with it the way it is.

Cheers,

Bruce

Welcome to the forum. If you take your time I'm sure that you could find a great used 2012/2013. With the way some people change bikes, I would not be shocked to see some great used 2014s in the coming spring or summer.

BL is correct. He made a comment with substance "Simple Hello" and was chastised. Where's the beer?

Barkingllizard - Hello. Now you can click to another thread. ;)

Everyone else. Thanks for the welcome. My last six bikes I've bought used. The next one is gonna be brand new and I'm not settling. An FZ-09 based ADV bike/FJ touring style looks very interesting. But, I doubt it'll have shaft & cruise control. And yes, I'll move further comments out into gen-pop. Now it's time for beer.

I don't blame you at all. This was my first new bike since the first one over 40 years .
