Welcome aboard. Good to see a veteran Super Tenere rider joining the group.

Welcome on, TFS. I'm heading down your way in about two weeks. Buddy and I are escorting his daughter to Victoria, and help her move some stuff when there. Keep the weather nice for us. Glad you're enjoying the bike. Will be interested to hear about the islands. We're thinking of doing the same next year. ::004:: R. ::022::

Welcome TFS,

I got my Tenere July 22, 2011. VIN 000033.

I am currently salmon fishing on Vancouver Island without my Tenere!!! I'm kicking my sorry ass for not riding it out here!!

Welcome to the forum TFS. Vancouver, B.C., you know, the pretty one. ;) I used to live in Portland, OR and visit B.C. often. Have a great trip and report back. With pictures!!

Like your avatar. Bilbo was a reluctant adventurer, but most of us, not so reluctant! That's what I love about the S10, it will go where ever you want to and let you explore.

TFS - Are you riding up to P.R., then taking the ferry over to Haida Gwaii, or taking the ferry out of Port Hardy? I'd love to ride in the Gwaii Haanas NR, but don't see much in the way of roads. Looks like from Queen Charlotte to Juskatia would be epic.

A few years back I rode up to Port Hardy and took the ferry to P.R., then rode home to OR via P.G., Cashe Creek, Whistler and into Vancover just in time for Canada Day. Some serious celebration there, and some ganja protesting. Not my bag, but driving thru downtown Vancouver I ran into my friend and he invited me to dinner, which made my trip even more memorable. Nothing like having a friend recognize you in traffic and holllar out your name. ::013::

Back atcha Toma/Rem/Cam/Swag/Eric. As Archie Bunker used to say, "E Plurbius Onion". I've only got about six days this time round, so the schedule is rather tight. Vanc to PG--PG to Prince R & evening ferry--full day #1 on HG--full day #2 on HG with evening ferry--Prince R to PG--then decide on slow or speedy trip back to Van. The Haida ferry is kinda weird because I think that it only goes over back/forth at night. Pre-booked a cabin berth with escape hatch porthole just in case( I've rode the Queen of the North between Port Hardy and Prince R years before it sank and the inflight movie is likely to be 'Titanic" )

Say'n Hi from the Metro Vancouver area. Had my Tenere since July 18 2011. VIN# 000039. Put on 13,000 km in a year. Heading up to Haida Gwaii (ex Queen Charlotte Islands) in a week for some bike camping.
Welcome on board! Great picture and I just came back from Nelson on a bike trip. Love that area of BC. I'm next in line with VIN#000040.

Sounds like a great time. You left your age out of your profile, and hey, maybe you just like old bikes.... but the Archie Bunker references tells me you're an old fart like most of us here. :D I look forward to seeing some pics when you get back. ::008::

I added my age to the profile (49), and yes, I'm probably right smack in the middle of the demographic. Still a full head of hair but it mysteriously seems to have changed all to distinguished silver overnight. The evil counter lady down at the DMV listed it on the licence as "grey". So I've seen some low 30's VIN's like mine, that's cool. I happened to be on a lunch break in July 2011 visiting the Yama dealer when the boss drove up with his truck just back from the docks. He had my bike in the wooden crate and we unloaded it while all the staff and myself stood by. I had the first pull of the crowbar (gently....) and actually opened it up myself. We were fated to meet.....

Congratulations! Since you built your own Tenere...

... what was the level of the coolant reservoir?
... was there oil and moisture already in the airbox capture tube?
... what was the final drive fluid level?
... what tires did you get?

Unfortunately, I only had time to pull some styrofoam out of the crate for a look-see, had to rush back to work before the boss noticed. The dealer, GA Checkpoint in Port Moody, did the dealer prep & assembly. I picked it up the next day. I had originally not heard of the Super Tenere while it was over in Europe, Australia & South Africa. My first doomed exposure was the cover of Cycle Canada in the fall of 2010. I instantly lusted hard for it and phoned up the dealer with $2000 down for the 1st one to arrive. At the time, the dealer did'nt even know about the deposit only order procedure. I went to the 2011 bike show and picked the brain of the Yam-Canada reps and spent an hour or two pouring over the two demos. Of course further heartbreak would develop with the delay of the Japan godzilla tidal wave but it did arrive at last in July. The price was $16,499.00 but the dealer gave me $500.00 credit toward service. Of course with our deposit order the complete 3 yr warranty was included.

I put two 45 litre Trax Alu boxes on, a K/N air filter, the AltRider bash plate & crashbars, K60 Scouts, Ram GPS holder, and still in the box Oxford grip heater.
