Hello - new member from Idaho. Looking to switch out my BMW F800ST for something a little more dual sport. Working with a dealer on a trade for a 2013 S10. Looking forward to all your advice.

Welcome - You'll find these forums a great help. I got my white 2013 last March and by reading up on what options there were for farkels, managed to find just what I needed. Making the bike your own and customizing it to fit your needs is 1/2 the fun.

There are a lot of Tenere riders in the Pacific NW and many of us are talking about the new Idaho Back Country Discovery Route. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some of us there this summer. Join in on the discussions on the PNW Tenere Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/508180775912122/

The going price for a new 2013 is under $11,000 which I'd call a bargain. http://portland.craigslist.org/grg/mcd/4851288342.html

The one I'm looking at is at Tigard BMW. $8995. Any reason I shouldn't? I can't think of one! :D

Thanks all for the welcomes!

What is the clutch basket mod for? Is it something to be concerned with on a 2013? Thanks in advance!

Involves switching out the clutch basket with one from a 2014 model. Eliminates some noise and vibration in the 3000 ish RPM range. Some bikes are worse than others...definitely not something to be concerned about.

That bike at Tigard BMW looks like a nice one. It already has an Alt-Rider skidplate which saves you $375 and a couple hours of work installing it. It's one of the better skidplates as it mounts to the frame and not to the engine case. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/altrider-skid-plate-yamaha-super-tenere-xt1200z-2011-2013

If you come over to get it, let us know when and we'll ride over to meet you for a welcome ride!

Thanks. Good to know on the skidplate. I'm coming over on the 31st to get it. It'll be a trailer this time of year, though!

Thanks. Good to know. Sounds to me like noise and vibration could be called "character."
