I guess this was a good life did more road than dirt I would say 75% road and 25% dirt.
Close to 5000 miles I could push another 1000.

I am a heavy big guy and being such my stuff is big as well as the extra weight from being big, loads tend to be heavy for trips.
So I know I am not getting a good life out of any tire I install on any bike, the Tenere has lots of torque as well like my 1050 Tiger did.

Did i like the tire?

YES!

The gray took off with my glove had to follow him down the road a bit to get him to drop it.. ::025::

That is so cool with the horses! Love it.

By the way, looks like your rear K60 was the old style tread blocks. Probably a 140 instead of a 150 too?

Don't think you can get that tread pattern anymore. The 140 now has the same continuous center block as the 150. Bet it last longer too.

Great pics of those horses. :)

Holy Heidenau's Batman Mine just hit 12K and are not nearly as bad as that. Just for reference, I am 300 lbs skinny ::) and have about 70% asphalt on mine.

I don't think I have seen an MC tire that squared off before...Out of curiosity what pressure were you running it at?

Max pressure 40 lbs for the 140/80-18.

As some folks may point out the pavement in New Mexico is aggressively abrasive to say the least.
I am 300+ pounds myself I ride on the highway 80 mph or less, with weight and Torque mixed in the equation I think I may need to move out of state Lol.
I have done all sorts of tires between three motorcycles I have owned since I moved to New Mexico in 1998 and I have never reached 7000 mile on any of them.
My last Scoot Triumph Tiger 1050 I ran Shinko 009 Ravens after all the big names gave me the same mileage, Low cost and got at least 6000 to the bottom end.

Pirelli Angel ST was the worst at around 4500 miles front and back.

You guy realise this is a 140/18 K60, right? Only for people who have laced up 18" rims - the rest of us run 150/17's. You can't compare the two. I get around 12,000 miles out of a 150/17, fully loaded bike.

Good catch, I think he has woody's rims on his.

At least, I think I remember you saying you bought the bike with 'em right, ramseybella?

woody does a 17 inch rim for the tenere as well.
besides, I run 140/80-17 on mine, and get f. all for mileage. 7700km from the last rear mitas. the new one is not shaping up too well either.
oh well, ::26:: shortens life, especially on gravel.

That is correct Karson, I am thinking on a Wood's 17 but wonder what that would be like with a 21" front?
 I guess 1" of extra rim takes off 7000 miles off the life of this tire?

Reporting in - I now have 12,000 miles on my K60's (150/17 of course). About half daily commuting and half 2-up touring with very few dirt miles <boo hoo>. Looks like I'm good for about 3,000 miles more on the rear. May have to measure the front in years. By comparison, I got 12,000 miles out of the factory Bridgestone Battlewings.

I'm not really in love with the K60s because their street manners are only adequate, but I appreciate how tough they are and much better in the dirt than the BWs. The K60 is a 50/50 tire and I'm not a 50/50 rider on this bike. All in all, I haven't seen another tire that interests me more when replacement time comes except maybe the Mitas (E07?), which doesn't seem to be available in the US.

Tire in photo on the bike was a Continental Twinduro TKC80, I melted that tire off in less than 3000 miles.

Just had a Pirelli MT-21 installed for $125.00 out the door, my guess is around 2 to 3k miles..

Let me make a correction I ran it at 36 psi manufactures specified pressure, front 21" Shinko at 41 psi..
