It's a good day for reflection. I thank all that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We were with a British unit during the ceremony and the thing that affected me the most was the fact that this year is the first time that there are no longer any surviving servicemen from WWI.

My grandfather was a serviceman during WWII. He died before I reached a point in my life where I really wanted to listen to some of what he had to say about those times. I wish I could talk to him now so I could get a first-hand account of some of what happened. The time for talking to these folks is quickly vanishing, as the folks who were there are reaching their end.

Now and then I ask my dad about Vietnam, and he's told me some stories. I think I'll give him another chat up next time I'm over there.

Somehow, I missed this until today.

Nothing like a good underway video for some local talent. Absolutely love it. They have better accommodations than we did on the Knox class Frigate.

It looks like a cross between a shellback video and something from Dr Demento! ::012::

(toss my daughter in the mix, and we have four generations, but she only did her 6)
