For anyone who's been on the fence about buying HT panniers, the 20% offer is still running and they've now sweetened the deal with a $100 gift certificate on top of that (promo code PANKIT13).

Check this out. I ordered the HT Teton panniers on 4/7 (black 9" clif-cut). The mounting brackets came quickly, but still waiting on the panniers. I went to the HT site last night to check my order status and that's when I noticed the $100 gift certificate offer (had not started yet when I ordered). I emailed HT to get a shipping date and mentioned the $100 promo. This morning I got an email back with a shipping date, and they're going to email me the $100 gift certificate! How cool is that?! That's consistent with my other dealings with HT - fantastic customer service.

It's not all good, though. Heather at HT said the panniers are running 6 weeks out, so my panniers won't ship until ~5/23. Makes me wonder why they're pushing them so hard if they can't keep up with demand.

I got them on my KLR and was happy with them. I'm looking for a quick release system now though and theirs is the, reach in and unscrew stuff. They are slow on the work but the work is good and their customer service is pretty up front and they are good people to deal with.

Where did you get the decals/murals on the sides of your panniers?? They break up the length and height of the panniers nicely. I have the same panniers and without something on the sides they look out of proportion on the bike. I would like something similar but not a copy of what you have.

thanks

Update on the HT panniers. The 5/23 ship date ended up being wildly optimistic. I waited patiently until that date had come and gone by a couple of weeks. I contacted them on 6/4 (Wed) for an update and Taralynn (apparently Heather is on an extended leave of absence) said she would check with the production team and let me know. She came back later that day and told me the production supervisor said my panniers would ship "by Friday" (2 days later). Naturally Friday came and went with no tracking number and no contact from them. Finally got a tracking number on Wed 6/11 and the panniers arrived on Friday. Haven't even opened the box so can't comment on the panniers yet.

Order to arrival ended up being almost 10 weeks. At the time I ordered there was no heads up about lag time. Currently the order page says 3-5 weeks. I have a hard time believing that unless they seriously staffed up in production.

Anyway, just a heads up for anyone considering these panniers. Happy Trails is a small company with normally great customer service, but they really lost some brownie points with me on this transaction.
