2014 Super Tenere ES (Matte Grey)
I wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU to the forum! Without it, I might not be anxiously awaiting the setup of my new 2014 ES model! Really, this forum is active with friendly, positive, honest and knowledgeable members - it makes a huge difference! So thanks for that... I probably already owe some of you a beer sometime ::003::
So I guess - a little background for me - I am getting the ES as a 20years of riding victory bike! I started licensed riding at 14 (thanks Oklahoma! and my first bike was a '72 Yamaha Enduro 125 - (the spirited orange ones that double as entry level mechanics models for how simple a 2-stroke can be) -- still need a replacement baffle for the muffler on that one... Let me know if you have extra parts
I went from there to an '81 Suzuki 750GS - a well powered cruiser and lots of fun! But I sold that when I went to school and was not sure it would be fun to ride in the LA area traffic all the time.
When I moved up to the Bay Area (Santa Cruz area really) - I missed it too much and got myself a Triumph Legend tt - which was perfect for commuting around the area and doing mild explorations of my new home... but it's not really camping/adventure ready - though I tricked it into a few anyway... Actually my favorite ride ever was on this bike over the Sierra Nevada in spring while the rivers were flowing with snow melt - beautiful!
But I thought I would go back to my roots - I wanted a bike to go everywhere, whenever I felt and not worry about a small gas tank, lack of storage or oomph on the open road. The forum helped me see this was a great option and still held on to the Yamaha reliability I remember.. and a test ride sealed the deal!
Anyway - I have some kit selection issues to finish working through, so I'll be actively chatting a bit... assuming I don't just take off somewhere when my bike is ready! ::26::
Ride safe and have fun!
