Would anybody who has installed one care to share how many mm of exposed threads they have left for adjustment?

I realize that everyone's will be different because of possible stretch in the chain, but I am curious. I only have 5-7mm left with a bike that has 54k on it. I was expecting quite a bit more.

It is much much much quieter but I worry I may have it on the tight side. I definitely do not hear a whirring but am a bit nervous about backing it off until I hear the coke can of rocks sound others talk about when making adjustments. How pronounced would the whirring be?

My hearing is pretty crappy and I have a hard time distinguishing one sound from another anyway.

I just happen to have my tank off. I have maybe 8mm of thread, and my bike has 12,000 miles on it. I think you are probably pretty good.

Thanks Mark, that makes me feel better.

I had installed the 14 cam chain tensioner last year and it didn't quiet the bike down at all really. When I pulled it out to adjust the valves this month it seemed like clip had some how slightly kept it from extending as far as it should have. Rather than wrestle it back to closed position and always have it in the back of my mine I bought the mcct.

If you have 8mm of thread left at 12k and I can't hear anything from it at 5-7mm at 54k, I'm going to say it is good. ::008::
