Now here's an interesting new GPS tracker that just might be the answer for a lot of us who have family, etc. that want to know where we're at on trips. No emergency "SOS" function like SPOT, and the front end cost isn't cheap, but not nearly the cost in subscription fees, either... And it's only 28mm in diameter and 10mm thick - and is solar and kinetic powered!!! You could put it just about anywhere on the bike without it being obtrusive, and it would never need batteries. I like that.

It's so small you could even wear it on your person, which might be handy in many ways.

Worth a look, anyway...

If it is to good to be true, it probably is. I'm in the GPS tracking business for fleets and everything I've seen in the last 13 years does not work well on a battery this small. It is likely over sold as an active tracker. Consider the size and life of your cell phone battery which is much larger. A battery this small can't provide enough power for true active tracking even if recharging with solar cells. I prefer the DeLorme InReach product that is even more expensive than the Spot. It is a satellite communicator, not cellular, so you get communicate in very remote areas. It has two-way messaging, social media updates, canned messages, and a built in EPERB. It has a screen you can view unlike the Spot that just has buttons. You can also put the tracking map on your website for all to see like I did. http://www.eroniler.com/map/. If it does not work the lower price doesn't matter. What business can survive on $1.50 a month per customer?
