Hello there, hoping to upgrade to the Tenere from a VSTROM some time in the near future, maybe a 2012. Have had no problems at all with my Wee, that I bought new in 2008, but I want a more capable touring bike, not to mention more comfortable. So I'm here learning about the Tenere and some of the issues it might have, as well as the good points of the bike. Thanks for letting me join. :)

Welcome aboard.
You'll have a LOT of company in the group which came from VStroms. Some of us still own one, in our case a 2003 DL1000.

I traded my 2012 DL650 for a 2014 S10 ES. I am very happy.

As a tall big guy the S10 is much better for me. I love the cruise control and electronic adjust ride system. The S10 just feel right.

Only negative of the S10 is the requirement to check / tighten the spokes but much less an issue that rear chain adjust on the Wee Strom 650.

There are much less farkle vendors for the S10 compared with the Wee Strom ...

Enjoy if you make the jump

::004:: to the forum from Oklahoma. I think that you will find that the Tenere is a much more capable touring bike and a better overall bike for whatever you would like to do in spite of the added weight.

Welcome and congrats on your upgrade. I had a 2006 Vstrom 1000 for several years, glad I made the change.

Yep, as others said, there's a lot of us former Strom owners here. Between my wife and me we've had two Wees and a Vee. Both of us went to Teneres.

I really loved my '06 Vee and put over 48K miles on it. My Vee with lowered gearing was a better wheelie bike, but otherwise the Tenere is better across the board.

My wife finds the perceived weight of the Tenere to be less than her old Wee. I know she finds it easier to handle. Very rare for her Tenere to hit the ground. Can't say the same for her old Wee.

Welcome

Welcome tnadvrider, from another Mid TN Tenere' owner. You will love the bike if you decide to make the move. I may know where a well kept 2012 might still be available locally if you are interested. Message me if you want to ride sometime. I'm in Murfreesboro. Be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I've taken my Wee on some pretty good x-countries and she performed very well, 4500 miles on one trip, but as Strom drivers know, the wears you out very quickly. From all I've read one of the best points about the Tenere is the comfort on long trips and the seat is excellent not to mention the cruise control is a huge plus. I plan on going for a test ride maybe this weekend, well see what happens. :)
