Hi everybody,

I've done a bit of searching, but I can't find any threads that discuss directly mounting soft panniers on an asymmetrical rack. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this would cause problems?

The '18 ES I picked up last month has Jesse hard cases and rack. Based on a pretty small sample size (one weekend getaway), they're great for two-up touring so I definitely want to keep them. However, I'm also planning to do a little off-roading and backcountry fly fishing, and so I've been scoping soft panniers that might work with the Jesse rack and be safer on the dirt. The ultimate setup seems to be Mosko Backcountry Offset panniers on the Jesse soft luggage adapter kit, but it is a bit of overkill (price-wise) given what I'm planning to do. I don't really need the convenience of being able to easily pull the bags off the bike like I might on a BDR trip - I just need to be able to change boots and swap out a fishing vest for my riding gear once I get to the river.

The Giant Loop MotoTrekk are closer to my price range and they're available despite Covid shortages. I also like the way they mount to the rack. So my main question is whether anyone has experience mounting MotoTrekks to an asymmetrical (non-vertical) rack or has tried a similar setup with a different brand. As far as I can tell, It looks like I shouldn't have any problems with the curve or clearing the muffler.

Thanks - Jay
