It's not so much a speed thing as an acceleration rate thing. If I'm hammering on her, I use the clutch every time because 'Hatter's right; mess the shift up and it's bad things. But if you're just tooling around, I'll go clutchless all the way to 6th and 70mph. I use the engine braking a lot, so I always use the clutch on the way down.
Oh see I thought clutchless shifting was like a racing thing...

I'm ignorant.

if you bungle a clutches shift you risk damage to the gear . break a tooth , its expensive . use the clutch for years of no worry shifting .
Fair. Understood. Just wanted to learn incase I needed to limp a bike home sometime with no clutch.

I think I practiced enough given this information lol.

There is, but this is not that. That's referred to as a speed shifter. I think a few guy on here have them, but they're not riding Teneres.

Gotchya. Just remember to upshift as you're backing off the throttle. No off throttle, then shift. With her throttle, it's more of a twitch off/on as I'm toeing the shifter. Smooth as silk.

That makes more sense. I was prob not coming off throttle enough to slip it in 4th gear.

I haven't noticed a difference in shifting when the oil gets old on the Tenere, but my FJ was a w-a-a-ay different story.
I feel like it helps. Castrol motorcycle juice is what I'm on for the time being. Cheap on the jungle web.

Not sure it's dramatic tho.

Edit: Imo if you change the juice on the reg you are a sexy beast.

Canning wax makes for a good lube on stuff you don’t want to attract dirt. It contains a mineral oil that makes a good lube. Lot of people use it on bike chains. Only downside is it is not really waterproof and the melting point.
That soundslike something they would use at Eton.

Speaking of that what speeds you shifting at in each gear?

Gave it a shot on the way to the gym. Was able feel if out up to 3rd but, after that I couldn't feel it and went back to clutch.
To be honest I couldn’t tell you, I just shift at the point that keeps the engine in the sweet spot. I do often find that I’m trying to shift to 7th though:D

I don't know, she's only doing 4k at 70, and she gets over 40mpg. She gets pretty sluggish below 3k too. So, if she had a true OD, that would drop her out of her powerband and trying to accelerate in top gear would require a downshift. I like not having to shift to pass a car.

That's cool and all, but I want 40mpg at 100minecrafts in Meximoonico.

@Mickbrew One thing I didn't see mentioned, because I didn't read everything posted, the clutch lever engagement is really close to the bar and I had the same issues you mentioned until I realized the lever needs to be pulled all the way in. Once I figured that out the Gear box became very nice. Smooth as silk as they say. Not sure how the Guzzi works but the S10 clutch spring is "not normal". Most Cap bikes have a pressure plate with 6 individual springs, this has an abomination. Do a quick search on the forum here and you'll find like 25 pages of people who have updated the clutch pressure plate. My self included. P.S. I read page 2 before posting, should have trusted my gut and skipped it...HAHAHA

Did you adjust the clutch lever out for quicker engagement?
