Just purchased a new 2015 Super Tenere ES on April 5, 2016. Have already taken it through Big Bend National Park and it performed very satisfactorily. Already discovered that Yamaha's side case locks have major issues. The left case is now impossible to open or remove from the bike. Will get that issue cleared up shortly though. My other two motorcycles are a 2015 KTM 450 XC-F and a 2012 Ducati Multistrada 1200S. I am recently retired so riding during the week is not a problem.

Greetings from Malta and welcome to the forum.

As for the OEM side cases, do not attempt to unlock the lid unless you are pushing the lid down. The lid gasket is a tight fit (waterproof) and you have to release the tension of the gasket to ease the lock. So press the lid down and turn the key and all should be well.

Welcome to the forum, Rick. I'm just down the road in 'Querque.
Head north up over the Alpine loop between Silverton and Lake City, you will love it.
