I'm in planning mode for some camping trips right now, and as part of it I was going back through the archives and found some pics a friend of mine took of us loading up firewood. Figured I'd share. I can't wait for the first trip this year.

out in these parts of the hills of the NorthWest, there isn't anyone around to delvier firewood!!! Heck, after a few campouts, there isn't even much wood to scrounge in any given campground (state) to use. Maybe next time, i could just use an old tire to burn for the evening or something. Hah!!! I am sure the tree huggers would enjoy that one!!

That might just of happened if I didn't already have an extended family outing planned for that weekend. You're not that far away, I'm sure we'll link up eventually. 8)

I cut 2 loads of firewood this week. But I use a F150 to bring it home.

Can't beat a pick up truck for hauling firewood! Usually there are some enterprising folks around that have firewood for sale, close to the national/state forests. I always try to buy the stuff as close to camp as possible. A bundle really throws off the handling of a bike when strapped on a luggage rack, for sure.

We ran across an "honor pay", firewood stand last year out in SD. $2 a bundle and put your money in a .50 cal., slot top, ammo can bolted to the tail gate of an old Ford pick up. Pretty cool. They were a buck less per bundle than anyone else and they were bigger bundles of better, longer burning wood. God Bless the small businessman! We threw a couple of extra bucks in the can, just because we liked the way they did it.

Gotta have a nice camp fire!! It's not camping without one, IMO.

The park we were at had an honor setup for firewood, but the bundles were extremely small for what they were asking. The pictures above were at a firewood stand a bit down the road from the park. The camp host gave us the tip on this guy and he gave us probably 3x the amount of wood for the same money. Very interesting fella to meet as well, worth the adventure.

Oh I got S'mores beat. Last year we ran out of gram cracker cookies so, I adapted and over came. Me and my family used Keebler "Fudge Stripes" Cookies instead of gram cracker. Just heat up the marshmallow, no chocolate needed. They were Awesome! If you have a sweet too this will hit the spot. If you have diabetes, I wouldn’t recommend this.

Given the fact that Fudge Stripe cookies are at or near the top of the all time cookie list, this definitely sounds like a win. Those little suckers go down easy.
