First ride on my new-to-me bike

Picked up my S10 yesterday and this morning gave a crap ton of cash to the State of Tennessee to license and register the thing. Next came my first ride and missing that money has slipped my mind until I started typing this.

Folks say the S10 is too heavy, I must be a lucky guy because it feels pretty light to me - but for the past 4 years I have only ridden my HD Ultra so the S10 is down about 300 lbs or so from that. This thing is wicked nimble, and much faster than that 107cu M8 motor in the Ultra. It is great fun. I think I am going to get along just fine with this one for a long time.

This bike has a TON of aftermarket goodies on it. There is literally nothing that I want to do with it right now.

Back when I was stationed in NH, I bought a car and had to pay a ton in registration. They don't have a sales tax, so they got it back with plates. But I found out afterwards that being in the military would have allowed me to only pay $18.00 IIRC. I renewed it the next year and paid the lower fee. What I don't know is if that was a NH thing, or a military thing. By the time I for the next renewal, I was out and back in TX. Check with legal and see since that's where I got the paperwork showing I was in the military.

As far as you liking the bike, you're right. She feels a 100lbs lighter as soon as she starts rolling and between the seating position and the wide straight bar, I agree that she handles very well. Others will disagree.

The last time I heard "wicked" used in a sentence was visiting family in Massachusetts. Never heard it from family in Charlotte TN.

Wicked - it is a great word.

I am originally from NE Ohio but joined the Marine Corps and never looked back. Somewhere along the way I served with plenty of folks from the NE and they seemed to like describing things as 'wicked'. I never heard it in Ohio other than referring to the Witch of the North.

I have a tougher time fitting "might could" into my vernacular as my friends from mid Texas used, but then again, I might could visit Tyler Texas someday on my S10.

Rode a bunch more today and seem to have some buffeting going on. I have (2x) Madstad screens and the mounting bracket with bracers but haven't quite figured it out yet. The larger screen is huge and would likely be in my line of sight. I am 6'1" with a 34ish inseam. I currently have the smaller of the two down as far as it can go and as near vertical as the bracket will permit.

I am using a Shoei Neotech right not and am definitely getting smacked around a bit. I'll search through the threads to see what others have done who are a similar height as I am.

I also pulled the two seat bushings that enables a drill-free, smaller bushing-free mod to flatten the seat. That is a HUGE improvement for the parts that you don't want to sit on while riding...

Welcome to the Super Tenere ownership tribe! You will love your new ride!

I also had similar experience with buffeting and even with the taller windscreen I found myself in the same situation you are.

However, I recently added “wind deflectors” to my 2012 Super Tenere and it made all the difference! I now have a really smooth pocket of air to pilot the bike from… at all speeds, even those unmentionable upper speeds many of us love.

You can find these wind deflectors all over the Internet (and maybe on this site).

I would suggest getting the wind deflectors before doing anything else with the windscreen. This will probably solve the problem to a great extent. You won’t regret it

Yes the wind deflectors Journeyman shows are a big help !
Seems like most folks that buy Mastad windshields really like them, never had one myself.

same here. Running a madstad 22 in and bought the wind wings. Very comfy at highway speeds now.
