Hi, just quickly, this weekend if I get a moment I'm gonna see if my "project" bike has a spark as the battery, coils and plugs have arrived
just a question on the fuel pump - when I turn the key should I hear/feel the fuel pump priming up?
Any feedback much appreciated - Ian

Fingers crossed!
Plan is to connect the coils and pop the plugs in and hope to see a spark while they touch the rocker cover
If there's a spark then fit the plugs and squirt a wee bit of easy start and see if she'll fire up before connecting the fuel line up
still haven't found that little pressure/map unit that bolts onto the left side of the throttle bods
If I don't get a spark then the fun begins!

If she won't fire with a wee bit of gasoline, then ether or starting fluid won't do it. You can damage an engine with starting fluid.

When you turn the key to the on position you should hear the fuel pump priming for 1-2 seconds then it goes silent until more fuel is needed.

Along with the key-switch in the "On" position, you also need the "Run-Stop" switch on the handlebars to be in the "Run" position in order for the Fuel Pump to prime.
Make sure not to forget that as well.

Amazingly the bike fired up - installed the coils and popped the plugs in - span her over and there was a spark - I was so relieved!
She hasn't been run for 3 yrs
Bit of a game getting the plugs in as didn't have a thin socket
then with a few squirts of easy start there was some movement - then some bigger hits of easy start and there was signs this motor was gonna run, then there was a small fire!!! but luckily throwing my large rag over it saved any damage - mighty lucky there
connected up the fuel line and pump - more good news - it was working
so bung in 5L of Shell's finest and she's up and running - even ticked over pretty quickly - sorted
