I was out yesterday, beautiful day up here north of Niagara Falls, US. Rode the 3 ATVs we own. Took my sons Yamaha 230 out on the property, everything worked perfect. So I walked up to the Super "T", (it has been in the garage since I trailered it home in July, 0 miles still) So the "old Russ, the adrenaline Russ" said I have to ride it at least once this season, back not feeling to bad or average for the problems I have. So the wife came out and said she would stay out there and watch to make sure everything goes OK.
Straddled the "T", set on it, god is it comfortable. Started down the drive all is good. rides incredible. Go down to the end of the driveway, slight incline, my thoughts were to turn around and drive it back to the garage. We are fortunate to have a 1/4 mile long driveway. As I go to turn around the bike, we go down without hesitation. Just dumped it. Going down was bad, but the worst part is, there was a group of 12 - 15 bikers going by. As I look left, all of the bikers were slowing down and pulling over. But the old me said no way, I don't like asking for help. So I pick the bike up and got it on its kickstand. Then I waived the bikers on. I hope they had a great ride..
Once out of site, I went and set on the rocks at the end of the driveway waiting on wife to come down. It was nice of her to come down, but what is she going to do but give morale support. So after about 15 minutes, I got on the bike and rode it back to the garage. The bike rides so incredible. I had to at least ride it once this season. If only the driveway.
I am scheduled for my surgery, (2 vertebrae and 2 disk) in two weeks. I had to give it at least once try. The bike is amazing. And I am so glad I bought it. But my riding/touring days will have to wait till spring. But I have no regrets. To me this is the bike to own. And I am proud to have it in my garage.
I hope everyone is enjoying there bikes as much as these bikes deserved to be ridden. And I want to thank for the bikers willing to stop to help me on Sunday, but that is what its all about. Motorcycling is just like mountainbiking, you take care of your own.
I know there is no wonders to share in this story, but I just wanted to let it out there. I wish all you the best, and I look forward to riding with you in the spring.
Take care,
Russ

if you heal as quickly as time flies, you'll be riding in no time at all. hope the surgery goes well and you're able to ride the super t out onto the road where it belongs.

Good luck with the surgery. My sister had some discs fused and can't believe that she didn't do it years ago.

Russ, It brought great Happines to my heart when you were able to take the ride. I will look for many more ride reports from you even if it is sitting on the bike in the garage while mending and healing yourself!!! Keep the great attitude and spirits high.

Tremor, I think it was just bad life luck and maybe age. He posted right after he got the bike. He is lucky to be able to even ride it where he did at this point.

Funny story and great attitude. If you take this attitude into the recovery from your surgery, I predict a speedy recovery.

Picking it up surely couldn't have helped the bad back. I laid mine over in the yard on purpose just to see how heavy it was and it's damn heavy (I'm no weakling). Guess the embarrassment and adrenalin of having all those bikers riding by made it seem lighter.

Luck on the surgery.

Good Luck, Russ. Be sure to do as the docs tell you, or things will surely go worse.

Is your bike Black or Blue? Oh yeah.... that's Rod's gig...sorry! ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::025::

Take care!

Here's to a smooth surgery and recovery, Russ. And darn it, after hearing you could pick up the bike with the condition of your back, Imma gonna plop mine on its side and give it a go!
