I was lookin' up H7, Van Damme State Park. I'd never heard of that numbering designation before. Now to look up forest roads. What kind of feed back are you wanting? Folks that have done it before? Recommend a new set of K60s. Spot tracker. Sat phone. Helicopter support. ::26::

June 3, 2011 I was headed to NorCal Tech Daze and decided to take 162 (east to west) and ended up on FH7. I was on my loaded KLR and not knowing there was dirt I entered the dirt at 60 MPH. Shocked at first and smiles afterwards. The top of the mountain was holding a cloud so some of the dirt road was wet and muddy. Two sections had my foot pegs six inches lower than the road surface. A constant throttle and looking far down the road got me through the mud. The remainder was a dirt race track if you wanted to take the chance. A month ago unexpectedly I went through worse (wet clay, no TC, older rear tire) on my Tenere. My zumo 550 GPS did not recognize FH7.

If you want company and the time is right I am up for FH7 again. Would be a good day ride for me.

No I wouldn't mind the company. I'm thinking Saturday after next if work load allows. In fact maybe others in the area might be up for a day trip.

Follow up for anyone who may be intrested. Road is wide open all the way through. Could go through on 90/10 tires with little issue. Still some snow at summit(s).
Many many side roads and duel track i did'nt have time to check out. Easy relaxed ride. ::021::
