I am sure The Beatles Sargent Peppers album cover has been mentioned in this thread.
As a young Canadian boy looking at this album cover made me feel proud seeing my province of Ontario Canada being represented on a global stage.

Discovered singing in a lauderette

Was a sad week last week. URoy, who pepped the sounds that thrilled the crowds at dances (since the early '60s) in Jamaica passed.

Most will not have heard of him, but he was influential in perfecting the DJ/toaster/MC craft that influenced chatting in reggae, rap, jungle, afrobeat, etc.

Very much so. There were two others that came before him, working the crowd on the sound systems. Count Matchuki (he chewed matches lol) and King Stitt aka The Ugly One, as he had a deformed face and speech impediment (but the crowds loved him). However, when URoy broke on the scene he was on another level: delivery, timing of interjection, topic. At one point he had #1,2,3 in the JA reggae charts. Apparently he was an extremely warm-hearted man as well. RIEP.
