Mak10,
Wow...sounds like you've done a bit of fabrication there! I discovered this part of the OEM muffler recently & removed the 'spark arrestor' protion...which I will put back after bit of modification. Had I known your skill level, we could've worked something out for the Delkevic I just sold yah! Am I wrong that by removing the spark arrester portion reduces the engine braking affect on the S10? It sure felt like the bike kept rolling after the throttle was shut off, where as before, it would definitely slow down due to engine braking.

I've ran the Delkevik silencer before, and like you when touring long distances it became too loud and seemed to drone. Part of it may be that it needed repacking.

It also would melt the reflector on my license plate holder with my boxes on.

From my seat of the pants dyno my bike seemed to lose some low end with the Delkevik. It also seemed to rev a bit more freely.

So I sold it and went back to stock....

Now I'm building a basket case Super Tenere into a more aggressive bike and the new silencer will fit right in.

Mak10,

I noticed the bike buildiong up the rev quickly with the Delkevic compared to my OEM muffler. Made it easier to ride & stay on power but did also notice engine braking kicked in pretty hard. But, I learn to stay on partial gas to control that in turns to prevent any changes in geometry. As I've mentioned before, after I removed the spark arrester assembly, I feel noticable difference in lack of engine braking! Surprised myself today when I took my bike for a ride up my usual test coruse, after S.A. removed when I found that my bike didn't slow down like it ued to after I was off throttle. But, I LIKE IT:p.

I have a question, can I use JB Weld to cold solder the S.A. assy back on the pipe? Or would you recommend having it properly welded at a shop?

Thanks...

I'm not sure about the spark arrester. I have seen a post here about people drilling a hole in the back so it makes the spark arrestor a straight through flow.

Kmasa.

I'm probably not going to run this extension, and since you gave me such a good deal on the Delkevik, I'll send this your way, if you want to pay shipping.

That way you don't cut up your spark arrester and can put it back to stock when you want.
