Sad. I have used them since 1993, buying my Super Tenere there in 2011.

Seems Yamaha terminated their contract last week - there was a notice posted on the shop door today.

Always sad, the not implies it is just a blip but I think it is almost certainly end of the road.

My local bike shop once had a Honda and Yamaha franchise, over the years the shift went to much bigger shops with large showrooms with a stack 'em high sell them cheap business model (well stitch everyone up on credit) this got the manufacturers pushing out smaller dealers.

They carried on after Honda pulled the plug (due to them not being able to commit minimum numbers) and then Yamaha did the same, but they continued with used bikes and servicing and now sell Enfields and some new mopeds.

These days I use them more than ever as their servicing prices are very good and I know the will do what I ask for a fair price, no targets to hit, or bonuses to maintain by rushing jobs, also keen to keep them going so buy as much as I can from them rather than saving a few pence on E-Bay or the internet as they have got me out of the doo-da a few times.....

...so for anyone who finds a local dealer handy remember to use them before you lose them (unless they are tosspots of course)
