Hi Everyone. My name is David, but go by the handle is Dazin'.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was nine. I got my first bike, a Yamaha 80, at eleven years old. I've owned many bikes since then -- everything from motocross to Harley and now this beast called a Super Tenere. I love traveling and do a lot of it. Wanted a bike that could take me across the country on highways, gravel roads, and trails. I love street bikes, but just felt the need to reconnect with my love of off-road riding with the same bike I ride the streets. Thus, the Super Tenere!

I love the street handling of my 2013 Tenere, but have to admit I've been hesitant to do much off-road riding alone. As you all know, these big engine dual-sport bikes are different to ride than a traditional enduro or street bike. And I would love to learn from the experience of others, rather than from my own trial-and-error, bone-breaking, bike-wrecking experiences. Looking forward to learning from you all and appreciate knowing that you have all collected here so that we can all learn from and support each other.

I'm originally from Lansing, Michigan, although I moved away from there in 1985. I've since lived in Detroit, Cleveland, Kansas City, Dallas, Sacramento, Nashville, Little Rock, Miami, Los Angeles, and now Las Vegas (and lived in several of these cities more than once). Yup, I get around a lot. By profession I am an Executive Coach, which is a fancy title that means I help company leaders get their thinking, vision, culture, and strategies in fine tuned and in sync with hyper company growth as our objective.

I welcome any tips, advice, and friendship you may have to offer. Thanks again for hosting this forum!

You're fixing to have a new kind of old fun. Not quite like anything else. Some can't really enjoy it if they know it would be easier on a different bike.
But like you said, riding on dirt on the bike you got there on........

Intoxicating, it can be. Welcome!

Welcome on, Dazin' Dave. Congrats on that new bike. It's a fine beastie. Looks like you're in a good spot for riding most of the year. ::004:: to the Forum from the Yukon. R. ::022::

Welcome Dazin'! I am envious of your locaion. From all I hear and read Las Vegas is well situated to let you do some great back country exploring. I hope to get down that way later this year with my Super Tenere to take a Rawhyde Adventure off road motorcycle course. They offer several levels so one might be just what you are looking for to get some experience in the dirt on big bikes. You can even use one of their BMW's as a crash test vehicle if you want to avoid scuff marks on your Tenere before building up a bit of experience. Lots of info on-line. By the way, what colour is your 2013? You can see mine in my avatar. Cheers, David

Hey Dazin', you did it!!!! I'm not talking about getting signed into the forum like we talked about, but actually getting that lazy "Snakebitten" to welcome you aboard. . . Oh the stories I could tell you about him!!!! So when he writes again in the near future, please don't believe a thing he says about me. It's all lies and conjecture, I promise!!!

Please put 6 April on your calendar as Joneil is setting up one of the first big rides here in Vegas. Make sure you go to the Western District (whichever one has Nevada) and read the Destination Las Vegas thread. Jon started this and it is taking off. If you plan on riding this one with us, post a message on that thread so Jon can see it. . .

OK, You sound all set, sorry you missed the Mt Charleston ride my son and I went on today. His name is Luke also, hence the TwoLukes. We just got handed a VStrom 650 that my brother UncaBuddah sold to a guy here in town. He had to get rid of it in a hurry and I got it for a great deal. So I you see a big blue S-10 and a silver VStrom is formation, please join in (staggered of course ;-)

Again, welcome and we are glad you chose the best bike in the world! See you soon . . . Luke
