Cult status ?
I dont know but I think it will become a very popular motorcycle to open minded riders.
One cult met its demise drinking the koolaid in Jonestown.
Theres another group partaking in the koolaid but expecting different results.

Yep, being immersed does make one tend to lose perspective.

The S10 has certainly reached the point of having a very vocal group of supporters who think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. My observation is that this phenomena tends to occur when a bike is challenged with some kind of adversity - in this case, I think it is the LONG wait for US customers and the rivalry with a long established and highly respected direct competitor, the BMW R1200GS.

I little bit of cult status happened with the V-Strom and the weird Borg angle that started on Advrider when someone dissed V-Strom owners as being Borg-like in their enthusiasm for the bike. From there it went to the tagline "You will be assimilated", to t-shirts, stickers, etc. It was almost viral, although when I put the Borg/Tenere sticker on my Strom, most never made the connection. Owners tend to circle the wagons when they feel they're being maligned.
